Danny Ainge made his regular radio appearance on Thursday, and the Celtics’ president of basketball operations offered several pieces of good news for Boston fans among one major bit of bad news. Ainge, speaking with Michael Holley and Mike Salk on WEEI, dispelled the belief that there will be major changes to the Celtics this offseason. Ainge said he expects Kevin Garnett and Doc Rivers both to be back next season, and that he believes Paul Pierce has a lot of basketball left to play. However, Ainge also admitted that the Celtics are “more than one player away” from contending for another championship. “We’re more than one player away, unless it’s a great player,” Ainge said. “It’ll be tough to become a championship team from where we are.” While Ainge reiterated that he expects Rajon Rondo to be ready for the start of training camp, he had no updates on Garnett other than his hunch. Ainge will give Garnett about a week to “chill” before touching base with the 36-year-old big man abou

Glenn "Doc" Rivers: The 13th best coach in the NBA apparently

The NBA's coach of the year was announced today, and it was Denver's George Karl. Congratulations to him on a much deserved award. Now, where did Celtics coach Doc Rivers end up on the list? Doc Rivers finished 13th in Coach of the Year voting: one 2nd place vote, one 3rd place vote. #Celtics #NBA — Jessica Camerato (@JCameratoNBA) May 8, 2013 I suppose that sounds...

Your Morning Dump…where Lee deserves one more chance

”I wasn’t playing like my normal self,” admitted Lee. “Roles changed a little bit, they wanted me to focus more on being a defensive player and spot-up shooter. I have a whole summer to get involved in doing a lot of spot-up shots, and working on my role, what it is going to be next year and whatnot. I’ll be prepared for that, a lot better than I was this year.” ESPN...

What the Hell Happened to...Erick Strickland?

He was a tough lefty-combo guard who was the master of taking charges.  In 2002 the Celtics were 4-0 with him as the starting point guard when Kenny Anderson got injured.  I for one was crushed when he left Boston after his one season.  If you remember the Cinderella Celtics of 2002, you absolutely remember Erick Strickland. A former Nebraska Cornhusker (and a tremendous...

Danny Ainge: Stephen A. Comments "Silly"

Stephen A. Smith ignited Twitter when he spoke on First Take recently of a proposed trade that would send Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce,  to the Los Angeles Clippers in exchange for Blake Griffin, Eric Bledsoe, DeAndre Jordan, and Caron Butler. Many thought that Stephen A.'s "inside information" was absolutely insane, with Celtics' GM Danny Ainge being one of them...

Scalbrine:“If you add a guy like this, it makes the Celtics a different team."

From WEEI: “I haven’t seen him in action like 5-on-5, but this kid would be a tremendous asset for the Celtics,” said Scal. “He’s strong and big and would take so much pressure off guys like Garnett. He’s athletic and pretty intelligent, and would fit in pretty well.” “He’s from New Zealand, a freak athlete. I always talk about Omer Asik and he’s similar to...

The Boston Celtics, the Los Angeles Lakers, and the Race to Return to Glory

The Celtics and Lakers are down once again. But are they out?   The cities of Boston and Los Angeles are home to the two preeminent franchises in the National Basketball Association. Their names are forever linked with each other, and are forever symmetrical with professional basketball. The Celtics and Lakers. The Lakers and Celtics. However, for the first time in 20 years, both...

The end of the line

Garnett and Pierce have brought plenty of smiles to Boston fans in their 6 years together. Well this is it. Yes, with the Game 6 loss against the Knicks the Boston Celtics run is finally over as we know it. Despite a valiant attempt at a comeback, the Celtics once again fell short as they just simply ran out of gas. Their age finally caught up to them, like I predicted it finally...

Boston Celtics: Time for a New Direction for the Celtics?

Boston Celtics: Time for a New Direction for the Celtics? By: Bryan Luis The Boston Celtics had a down season according to the expectations of many in Boston, but it should not have been a surprise that they struggled this season. A Celtics fan guide to watching the rest of the playoffs

It's been almost a week since the C's were eliminated by the Knicks in Round 1 when their incredible Game Six 4th quarter rally fell just short.  It's time to move on.  All four second round series are now tied at 1-1.  Who should we be rooting for?  Keep in mind these are NOT predictions, just a best case scenario for Bostonians from here on out. EASTERN CONFERENCE...

No Lakers or Celtics in the Second Round?

First time since 2007 that there isn't a Boston Celtics' or Los Angeles Lakers' team in the second round of the NBA playoffs. These two teams make up 33 NBA titles out of 67 NBA championships (almost half). Seriously, I hate the Lakers so I am happy they aren't in it. A lot of our readers and fans out there thought the Spurs and Lakers series was going to be entertaining...

Tonight, I came across this cool collage of KG & Truth. I’m also in the process of putting together a gallery of the 2012-13 season’s most memorable moments. Look for that soon..
