Pass The Pill:
Rajon Rondo and Kevin Garnett
Much has been made of the supposed drama between Ray Allen and the Boston Celtics. Stories have been flying around about the relationship between Ray and point guard Rajon Rondo, as well as head coach Doc Rivers.
Allen seemed to be upset when the team signed shooting guard Jason Terry, seemingly to take his place. He then decided to sign with the rival Miami Heat, upsetting many Boston fans.
But can you really blame him? At that point, returning to Boston would mean competing for minutes with Avery Bradley and Terry. Talk about a log jam.
Believe it or not, the Celtics have gotten better. Significantly better.
It all started with bringing back Kevin Garnett, who played at an extremely high level during the playoffs. With Jason Terry, the Celtics get a player similar to Allen, yet more diverse on the offensive end.
They drafted Jared Sullinger and Fab Melo to beef up the front court a bit. Although Melo might not contribute much, Sullinger has the potential to be a presence in the low post immediately if he can stay healthy.
Jeff Green looks to be back after missing all of last season. He gives the team a solid forward option who can guard multiple positions and add some athleticism to a team that severely lacked it. Also gives them another player that can run with Rondo.
Bringing back starter Brandon Bass at a reasonable rate was a solid move. He started to find his role in Boston, and has showed steady improvement.
Not to mention, they added swingman Courtney Lee from the Houston Rockets to replace Mickael Pietrus. Anyone who watched the Celtics this season knows that this is a major improvement. Pietrus had his moments in Boston, but did not play terribly well in whole. He was a solid defender, but always seemed to make a boneheaded play on a consistent basis. And offensively, he was limited almost entirely to the three point line.
So for now, their starting lineup looks like Rajon Rondo, Avery Bradley, Paul Pierce, Brandon Bass, and Kevin Garnett. The bench consists of Courtney Lee, Jared Sullinger, Jason Terry, and the newly signed Jason Collins.
This is a team that seemed to run out of firepower against the Miami Heat last season. By replacing Ray Allen with Jason Terry, Pietrus with Lee, and adding Jared Sullinger, Jeff Green, Jason Collins, this team looks ready to go.
Celtics fans, don’t be bitter. The team already replaced Ray with Terry before he even bolted to Miami. And besides, they’re a better team than last year.

BEST OF MAXIM
It's no secret that the Celtics and the Heat have rapidly formed a rather heated rivalry over the past few years. Miami has knocked Boston out of the playoffs in each of the last two seasons, doing so in particularly heart-breaking fashion this past season. And now, with Ray Allen's defection to South Beach, the rivalry is as intense as ever. So, although the two teams may...
NBA royalty will be saluting President Obama as he is salivating at the millions of dollars that will be raised for his campaign. According to the Silicon Valley’s Mercury News, his Air-ness Michael Jordan and David Stern will host a super-star studded affair to raise money for the Obama re-election campaign. Among the guests are [...]
Caught this video on WEEI the other day. It's from 2011 (Old friend Kendrick Perkins makes an appearance). A couple of observations from the video: One, I think if Rondo was taller he would have been a fantastic post player. He has the moves and trick shots down low. And two, Rondo's jumper has never been as bad as people make it out to be. Statistically speaking, Rondo...
Avery Bradley is no Ray Allen, but in the study of how Bradley went from a defensive specialist to a key part of the Celtics' all-around game, Allen's name is there. With Allen gone to the Miami Heat and Bradley preparing to take more of the shooting guard load next season once he fully recovers from shoulder surgery, Bradley was giving praise to his former teammate on Tuesday...
Yesterday, I posted a photo of Rondo and KG partying with Snoop Doggy Lion or whatever his name is. Today we have updates on a few more Celtics and what they are up to in this offseason.
Avery Bradley has been rehabbing his two surgically repaired shoulders, but he has also been out giving back to the community. First up is a video of Avery joining with Cedric Maxwell in visiting...
First, we had Marquis Daniels and Suge Knight hanging out. Now this. Snoop Doggy Dogg Lion posted this photo with Celtics Kevin Garnett and Rajon Rondo at rapper Drake‘s OVO Fest in Toronto on Sunday.
You’ll remember Snoop changed his last name from Dogg to Lion during a bizarre press conference, claiming he was Bob Marley reincarnated. Of course, Marley...
Strangely enough, Bradley's offensive units were more efficient than Allen's last season. We are fully entrenched in the NBA’s dog days of summer, and for websites that cover solely one team, even such quality websites as Celtics Town, occasionally the same debates get rehashed over and over. So, naturally, I’m going to go ahead and continue to rehash an already rehashed...

For the sake of convenience, any fans who set their Ray Allen jerseys ablaze may want to keep that lighter handy. They may need it to burn their No. 34 jerseys soon. All right, put down that bottle of butane. The end of Paul Pierce's time with the Celtics is no more imminent now than it was at last season's trade deadline, when team president of basketball operations Danny...
Another poll, another win for Rondo’s kicks. This time it’s his Nike Hyperfuse 2011 away p.e. It wasn’t even close as RR’s pair beat Marquis’ U.A. Micro G “Juke” 234 votes to 100 votes. Without further ado, here is our next poll:

These are my favorite colorway of the Anta KGII. Garnett first busted these out in January...
Kevin Garnett and Rajon Rondo may not be playing in this year's Olympics, but they're staying busy this offseason. The two Celtics are apparently in Toronto to attend the OVO music festival, an event hosted by hip-hop artist Drake in his hometown. Once of the other stars in attendance was Snoop Dogg -- a.k.a. Snoop Lion -- and the rapper posed with the Celtics players for...
OVO Fest 2012 took place last weekend in Toronto. It’s the third year that rapper, Drake has put the event on. Taking in the festivities were Boston Celtics Kevin Garnett and Rajon Rondo. They even flicked it up with Snoop Dogg – yup, I know he’s changed his name to “Snoop Lion” for an alleged [...]

The Obama campaign is planning a fundraising "shoot-around" and dinner in New York on Aug. 22 featuring several NBA stars, including Carmelo Anthony of the New York Knicks, Rajon Rondo of the Boston Celtics...
