If the internet had somehow failed us, it’s off the hook thanks to Old Spice and Dikembe Mutombo. In an advertising campaign so unspeakably awesome that it would make Don Draper crap his pants, the deodorant company has rolled out something that has nothing to do with deodorant whatsoever: a cheesily awesome video game starring the NBA’s No. 7 all-time shot blocker. The game is called “Dikembe Mutombo’s 4 1/2 Weeks To Save The World.” The premise? The Mayan calendar ends on December 21, and it is up to Mutombo to engage in a variety of 16-bit adventures to carve more days onto it. Play the game after the jump. The first level involves throwing ballots to American citizens “Paperboy”-style due to the risk of the Gangnam Style dance making them forget to vote on election day. The second level looks to be more of a Super Mario Bros. homage, as you have to jump on top of creatures described as Blurgies in order to save Thanksgiving. Both levels also feature bizarre interaction between Mutombo and his sidekick, Science the Bear — a sweater-wearing bear with a British accent. According to the main menu, three more levels will become available in the weeks counting down to the apocalypse. Oh, and the cursor is Mutombo’s wagging finger, just in case this all wasn’t awesome enough for you in the first place. But I’m done describing it. Just play it. This game is beyond the parameters of all verbal description, anyhow.
