Dion Waiters has returned to the Cleveland Cavaliers, and it seems he’s feeling better and interested in clearing up a few rumors. The first question Waiters got upon his return wasn’t about his illness, but about whether or not he blacked Kyrie Irving’s eye during a fight? Waiters spoke about his mysterious illness, the contentious team meeting, and his issues with Irving. “We got it off our chests. At the end of the day, I think we needed it and we can move forward,” Waiters said. “We’re men. Nobody got into no altercations or anything like that. We got everything off our chests that we needed to. That’s that. All the other rumors, man, are rumors. Don’t believe it. It’s not true. We talked. Everybody talked. Nobody put their hands on nobody. At the end of the day, we’re teammates.” “I’d rather fight somebody else on the other team than one of my teammates,” Waiters said. “That’s the way it is. That’s the way I was brought up. I feel as though we say we’re family, then we’re a family and I’m going to look out for you to the best of my abilities. All the other stuff is foolishness.” Waiters said he most pressing issue was with losing and his lack of touches, so he took a few days to clear his head, and meet with his agent. “It’s frustrating just losing, especially knowing you had games, being in the games and we could have done one or two things better or just sharing the ball, being unselfish, things like that,” Waiters said. “It built up, frustration built up and at the end of the day we called a players meeting right after the game when we lost to Minnesota. We said what we had to say and that’s that.” So we have contention, losing, and gripes about touches. Sounds like a typical NBA locker room to me. H/T Akron Beacon Journal

Will intense player meeting make or break the Cavs?

Player meetings are about as common in the NBA as pre-game shootaround. They may not occur as frequently, but when teams are struggling on the floor and showing an overall lack of chemistry, the “player meeting” is the go-to spot to air grievances and remains an attempt to bring the locker room together. At times, meetings can range from productive, to heated, to players...
