The NBA season begins on Tuesday with an exciting matchup between the Boston Celtics and Miami Heat. Not only is the game a rematch of last season’s Eastern Conference Finals, but it also marks the first game for Heat guard Ray Allen against his former team. Allen chose to sign with the Heat in free agency and was called a traitor for choosing to play for Boston’s rival. Allen’s first game with the Heat — and first against Boston — will be a huge story line Tuesday. Naturally, Celtics coach Doc Rivers was asked about Allen leaving Boston during a recent interview. Rivers was completely respectful towards Allen, but he did point out that Ray did not have a good team attitude last season after being replaced by Avery Bradley in the starting lineup. “You worry about a guy’s feelings, but you worry more about the team. If anything, Ray probably didn’t like that,” Rivers told 98.5 The Sports Hub’s Felger & Mazz on Friday. “I’ll always look at myself first with Ray; he wanted to ball m

Does Ray belong in the rafters?

As Ray Allen continues to flap his gums now that he is surrounded by the games biggest prima-donnas, one has to wonder if he is not only burning the bridge, but blowing the thing sky-high between he and Boston. The burns were bad enough that Ray opted to take less money to join the Celtics biggest rival of this generation, but as if that were not enough Ray has used every opportunity...

Enemy Chatter: The Celtics mess with your mind a little bit

We often wonder what opposing teams, their beat reporters and bloggers are saying about the Celtics.  Here’s a look at some enemy chatter from Miami. “I expected that, when I heard [that the Heat are the Celtics’ target] from Doc, I know Doc very well, as well it should be; our focus is on Boston,” Wade said. “But we do look at other teams. We’re not going to say we’re...

Jeff Green, Jared Sullinger, Other Offseason Additions Should Improve Celtics' Already Effective Passing Game

WALTHAM, Mass. -- Doc Rivers never had any problem convincing his players to share the ball last season, as evidenced by the Celtics' league-leading assist percentage. When the passing game would break down -- which was more often than Rivers liked -- the difficulty was a problem of execution, rather than intent. Almost to a man, last year's Celtics...

Celtic fans the best when it comes to showing loyalty and support

You can see the emotional affect it had on the whole team.  Kevin Garnett cited it as The...

Celtics-Heat Preview

LeBron James is finally getting his championship ring. Somehow, that seems like an ancillary element to opening night in Miami. It's Boston vs. Miami, a rematch of last season's Eastern Conference finals that went seven games before the Heat prevailed. It's Ray Allen vs. the Celtics for the first time since he left after five seasons to join Boston's biggest current...

2012-13 Celtics Are On a Mission To Hoist Another Championship Banner

Last season, the Celtics season shockingly ended abruptly after folding to the eventual Champion Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference playoffs. Not that they didn’t make a good run. They came back from a difficult start and rolled through the playoffs looking like they were in good form. However, after some controversial contests with the Heat where there were a number of questionable...

Predicting the Boston Celtics minute distributions by position

As the season draws closer, the Celtics player rotation still needs to take shape.  This season more than others– with  so much depth and so many impact offseason additions, it remains unclear as to what player combinations the Celtics will play.
