Mickael Pietrus stated earlier in the day that he'll be ready for Wednesday's game, but Doc won't commit to playing him just yet. There's no doubt that Pietrus is dying to get on the floor, but the Celtics need to make sure that his knee is 100 percent before they throw him out there. It's great to hear that he was able to find his stroke from deep. Maybe the addition of Pietrus will mean that Brandon Bass will have some kind of scoring help on the second unit. Also, no surprise to hear that Marquis Daniels is sick. I blame Ray.

Boston Celtics Doc Rivers Calls Out Player Effort

The Boston Celtics season is only eight games old and already the team is getting called out by their coach. The team is sitting at a record of 4-4 and Doc Rivers is not happy. The alarming part is he is not happy with the team’s effort calling the team out and saying that it needs to play harder. I cannot really argue with Rivers. The team’s effort has been a joke the...

Chris Wilcox's impact on Marquis Daniels, & how simple fundamentals will rescue the bench

The Celtics bench has totally been re-tooled.  The only returning players are Marquis Daniels (who missed half the season after his injury), Avery Bradley (who barely played last year), and Sasha Pavlovic (who is returning in only the strictest sense of the term).   We touched on the bench in the Dump, noting how awful Marquis Daniels has been.  And there's no getting around...

Boston Celtics Mickael Pietrus Wants Wednesday Debut

After watching the first eight Celtics games this year, one glaring need is a shooter off the bench. As much as I love the way Marquis Daniels can find a way to get to the basket, the Celtics need a guy that can shoot and stretch the floor. Daniels just does not have that ability to hit the open jump shot and the result is defenses are collapsing in the paint and the bench scoring...

Doc Rivers on Pietrus after Today's Practice

Unlike Pietrus' definitive statement to the Globe, Doc doesn't sound as sure that Pietrus will play Wednesday, but he seems to indicate that it's Danny's decision and he hasn't discussed it with Ainge yet. But Doc indicates that Pietrus' 3 pointers seem to be on point in practice and he can contribute on the defensive end, and Pietrus is anxious to get in...

Quis may play tonight

Via the Globe, Marquis Daniels says he could be ready to go tonight.  Daniels sat out the past two practices because he sustained a migrane headache, not the flu as the team initially reported. Daniels said he starting feeling symptoms in a Sunday workout and did not return to the court until this morning in Waltham. "I feel a whole lot better," he said. "Bad...

Your Morning Dump... Bradley, Daniels have been awful

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. Spacing has been an issue without consistent shooting on the floor and Dooling has more turnovers (14) than assists (11). Rivers had Bradley bring the ball up the floor at times so that Dooling can run off screens...

Your Morning Dump... Where Doc ran the guys out of the gym

Getty Images Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump The Celtics finished a spirited two-hour session by running no-dribble, three-man weaves up and down the court, players sprinting from one end to the other -- tagging a coach's hand -- then...

Today's Video: Mickael Pietrus Career Mix

On Boston’s bench production

Fielding a team bereft of knuckleheads is great — at least for camaraderie, teamwork, the willingness to sacrifice one’s own statistical output for the benefit of something more important, wins, and Doc Rivers’ sanity — but it really means squaw-douche in the NBA without talent. Put the ten NBA players in the late-1990s and early-2000s who got along the best...
