Doc Rivers will be in Boston on Wednesday and plans to sit down with Danny Ainge, league source says. — Adrian Wojnarowski (@WojYahooNBA) June 18, 2013 Adrian Wojnarowski reported earlier that Doc will be in Boston on Wednesday and will sit down with Danny to discuss his future and, I imagine, the future of the Celtics. And Steve Bulpett is reporting in the Herald that Doc plans to make comments after he meets with Danny. According to a league source, Rivers hopes after that discussion to make his first public comments regarding his future since saying on May 3rd that he was uncertain if he would be on the Celtic bench for the 2013-14 season. Danny has insisted from the start that he wants Doc as the Celtics' coach this season. Now, it's up to Doc to decide whether he can come back and coach the Celtics after flirting with the Clippers' job. It should be an interesting press conference from Doc. Danny isn't sure if anything will be decided in this meeting, but at least they are headed in the right direction.   Hopefully he will make his decision and the Celtics can get on with their off season without the dog and pony show that has been surrounding them. Clippers preparing press conference for Doc Rivers and KG

Well, we thought this all would come to a head soon, and it has. The Clippers are apparently already preparing to announce Doc Rivers and Kevin Garnett. Hearing Clips already prepping for intro press conference for at least Doc & KG. Hard to see deal not being done soon. — Baxter Holmes (@BaxterHolmes) June 17, 2013 To be clear: Paul Pierce is NOT part of this trade....

Brian Shaw rumored to be frontrunner to succeed Doc Rivers as head coach of the Celtics

The name I've heard most as a possible replacement for Doc Rivers if he leaves the Celtics: Brian Shaw. — Baxter Holmes (@BaxterHolmes) June 17, 2013 Brian Shaw has been bouncing around like a pinball the past few weeks. As soon as Shaw misses out on one coaching gig, as another team hires a coach, he immediately becomes a front runner for another team. Who knows what type...

Report: Clippers-Celtics Trade in Jeopardy Again As Los Angeles Refuses to Make Boston Offer for Doc Rivers

You’re not going to believe this: the proposed deal between the Clippers and Celtics has hit another snag. This time, it’s the Clippers who are holding up the talks between the two teams, according to Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski. Los Angeles has yet to offer the Celtics any compensation for Doc Rivers, fueling some concern that the front office “has no authority...

Report: Clippers Walk Away From Deal For KG, Doc Rivers

ESPN.com is reporting that according to sources, the trade talks between the Clippers and Celtics for Doc Rivers and Kevin Garnett have totally fallen apart, with the Clippers walking away. The teams have no plans to speak again, the sources said, and the Clippers are preparing to move on and hire a coach this week. Reports suggest that the talks broke down Tuesday morning when the...

That Crazy Celts-Clippers Deal Is Dead

For the past few days, the big “will they wont they” story has been Doc Rivers and KG possibly being traded to the Clips. Well, that’s just fallen apart sources say. LA refused to give up DeAndre Jordan and two 1st rounders, as well as presumably Eric Bledsoe, all in exchange for letting Doc out of his contract and the elder Garnett. It’s just as well. There’s only room...

No Deal Yet But Talks to Resume Tomorrow

You can't make this up. Talks between the Clippers and Celtics to allow the Clippers to sign Doc Rivers to coach their team are taking a break so that the Clippers' owner can take another coaching candidate, Brian Shaw, out to dinner. I'm wondering if Brian Shaw feels used. Actually maybe Danny should join in on that dinner because I'd love to see Brian Shaw hired...

Why do the Clippers want Doc Rivers?

Phil Jackson says he won because he had great players. While true, Phil Jackson was also a great coach. We saw how bad the Lakers became with Phil not on the sidelines. The Boston Celtics were terrible at basketball before Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen arrived in 2008. Even with Paul Pierce, they were horrendous. You know who was there at that time as well? Doc Rivers. But for some...

NBA Informs Clippers, Celtics Blockbuster Trade Won't Be Approved

The NBA informed the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Clippers days ago that their trade centering on Doc Rivers being sent to the Clippers with Kevin Garnett -- even if broken into two separate transactions -- is not permitted under league rules, according to sources. There is no separating the two moves at this point because it is clear all pieces are meant to be part of the same...

Chris Paul Pushes Clippers To Resume Talks With Celtics On Rivers-Garnett Deal

Sports reports that the Clippers have now resumed talks with the Celtics to complete the deal and free agent Chris Paul is reportedly responsible. With a full understanding that free agent Chris Paul wants this deal completed, the Los Angeles Clippers re...

Report: Celtics And Clippers Hope To Reach Trade Agreement Monday

The Celtics and Clippers have reportedly resumed trade discussions that would send Kevin Garnett and Doc Rivers to L.A. The talks stalled when the Clippers refused to include Eric Bledose in a deal, but Boston is now showing interest in other possible assets with the hopes of completing a deal on Monday. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports: The Boston Celtics and...

The point of no return for Doc and the Celtics

After a weekend of talk and rumors and speculation and firing up of the trade machine, the Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Clippers broke off their talks for the massive deal involving Celtics coach Doc Rivers and power-forward Kevin Garnett. Many Celtics fans see this as a blessing. There was growing speculation that the Boston Celtics might just run it back in 2013-2014 and...

Clippers – Celtics trade coule be held up by David Stern

Looks like the Clippers and Celtics may have hit another snag in their ongoing quest to swap DeAndre Jordan and Kevin Garnett as well as allow Doc Rivers to bounce out of his contract and head west. Per league rules, not only are coaches prohibited to be formally “traded,”  teams can’t trade or move forward with free-agent signings with contingencies or side deals attached...

Deal Moving Along - Clippers Seeking Owner's Approval and Other Thoughts

According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Clippers management, who have been involved in the trade talks with the Celtics, planned to meet with team's owner Donald Sterling on Wednesday night to get approval from him for the trades that would send Doc Rivers and Kevin Garnett to LA for DeAndre Jordan and picks. Of course, they had to wait until Sterling got home from dinner with...

Shootaround: Sticking points

Celtics, Clippers still talking ----- The talk all weekend was about the potential goings on in the back halls at TD Garden. And it was not about the Stanley Cup Final making its way to Boston. There are proverbial moving boxes outside Doc Rivers' office if the team can get this thing figured out. Catching you up in case you had your head buried in the sand, the Celtics...
