From Larry Brown Sports:
Doug Collins was in a tough spot on Friday night, and the coach ended up committing to providing Big Macs for over 18,000 Philadelphia 76ers fans as a result.
The Sixers, like many other basketball teams, have a promotion where fans in attendance for home games receive a free Big Mac if Philly scores over 100 points in a game.
The Sixers were up 99-80 on the Atlanta Hawks with about 24 seconds left in the game, and instead of trying to score a basket to put the team over the century mark, Collins instructed Evan Turner to dribble out the clock on their final possession. The sportsmanlike move ensured no hard feelings between the 76ers and Hawks, but it left the home fans upset.
The crowd was on its feet and howling for Turner to score the bucket to put Philly over the top. Turner knew what was at stake, and he even pointed at Collins to shift the blame to his coach as he dribbled out the clock.
According to AP writer Dan Geltson, the result was Collins telling the fans that Big Macs were on him. Hopefully he has some sort of backup plan, because just over 18,000 Big Macs at around $4.00 apiece could get pretty expensive. This is also the second time this season a Big Mac giveaway created a tough situation in the NBA.

Class act, on both accounts, by a class man. Good luck this year, coach Collins. And may you and your family experience health, wealth and prosperity.

What kind of promo guy did they hire? For something this "Big" they should have contacted McDonald's home office and came up with a deal that would benefits MCDonald's and the NBA teams(Like the NBA needs the money,so Scrooged). No offense, but this could have been hammered out in the of season, when you do promos, there is give and take on both sides. Sorry, I don't think the coach should pay, even though he did. I think it needs to come out of the owners pockets as they came up with it.
