We really haven't weighed in on this and there is no "Concrete" story per say, but it is an opportunity to weigh in on the NBA's biggest (literally) con man. Dwight Howard wants people to believe that he is a "Great" NBA Basketball player with a big heart who does tons of charitable things. We will grant that he does a lot of charitable things. Dwight Howard is quickly becoming the most hated player in the NBA, taking the throne from LeBron James. And we say that after covering Howard in high school and interviewing him several times, we really thought he was a good dude who wasn't in it for the money and genuinely wanted to be liked. We were wrong. Sure, we get that players are entitled to make as much money as they can while they play, we get that. And that isn't an issue here. The Orlando Magic have said many times they'd be willing to pay Howard, who when motivated can be one of the league's best players. But he...

Dwight Howard Not Headed to Brooklyn Nets Now, But Story Far From Over

My parents used to tell us about playing kick the can in back alleys. I never really understood the rules or the purpose of the game, but I feel like we are getting a pretty good look at the 21st century version every time news breaks about Dwight Howard. The can has been kicked again, with the Brooklyn Nets signing center Brook Lopez to a four-year extension and effectively taking...

Rockets, Lakers re-emerge in Dwight Howard sweepstakes

The Magic's talks with the Nets have seemed to wind their course. The Cavaliers backed out of the reported three or four-team deal and have left the Magic and the Nets dealing with each other for Dwight Howard. It is no secret Howard wants to end up in Brooklyn, but Brooklyn lacks many of the assets to trade with Orlando directly -- thus the complex monster of a trade Brooklyn...

Sources: Dwight Howard trade to Houston imminent

TVF has learned the Dwightmare is almost over. Sources have the Houston Rockets shipping a lot of youth and draft picks to Orlando Magic in exchange for Dwight Howard and a myriad of bad contracts that former GM Otis Smith crippled the team with. While some of the smaller pieces are not set in stone (Hedo Turkoglu [...]

Report: Howard-to-Nets deal dead

Looks like Dwight Howard won't get what he wants. The Brooklyn Nets have pulled out of trade talks for the All-Star center, according to ESPN.com. Howard had requested a trade to Brooklyn, saying it was the only team with which he would sign a long-term contract extension. The Orlando Magic had been negotiating with the Nets but a last-gasp attempt at a deal fell through Wednesday...

Nets give up on Howard deal

After three consecutive days of intense negotiations and talks with at least four different NBA teams, the Brooklyn Nets gave up all hope of acquiring Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard on Wednesday, and they turned their attention to giving a maximum contract to Brook Lopez instead. It was reported that Lopez had agreed to a four-year, $61 million contract with the Nets a deal...

Magic GM casts doubt over Nets' deal; could Howard stay?

Orlando Magic general manager Rob Hennigan held a press conference at 4 p.m. ET and, at that moment, refused to confirm reports that trade talks with the Brooklyn Nets focused on Dwight Howard were dead as multiple reports indicated. "That's not accurate," said Hennigan. "We're still talking to the Nets." But unless another team joins the discussions...

Bye-Bye Brooklyn, Reports State D-Howard To Nets Deal Off Table

It appears that all of the talk of the so-called “Super Team” in Brooklyn, over the past few weeks was all for not, as the “New York Post” reported Wednesday afternoon, that according to their sources the Brooklyn Nets have broken off negotiations with the Orlando Magic to reach a deal that would have sent All-Star center Dwight Howard to the Nets. The paper’s sources...

Rockets utilize options with Howard deal dead

The Houston Rockets began free agency hoping to be free agent players. They reached the end of the moratorium ready for a complete overhaul, all with the pursuit of a franchise player -- preferably Dwight Howard -- in mind. Free agency began with a deal on an offer sheet to Omer Asik, a meeting with Eric Gordon and negotiations with Goran Dragic. Within the first week, Gordon...

2012 NBA Rumor Central: Houston Rockets considering using amnesty on Luis Scola to create cap room for a possible Dwight Howard scenario

Now that the Brooklyn Nets ar out of the Dwight Howard trading picture, it seems the Houston Rockets are emerging as a team that going all out for Howard. There are reports that the Rockets are considering amnestying Luis Scola in an attempt to create more cap space to appeal more to the Orlando franchise [...]

Five for Friday

Five things Im thinking about this weekend before heading to Texas Hatters to get fitted for my beret. 1. Something that seems true (and totally is): The Rockets are taking a gamble they cant lose. You get one amnesty exception for the 10-year duration of the collective bargaining agreement signed last year. It basically allows you to waive a player before his contract is up and...

Four-team trade was a minus for Cavs

Even though it might have been exciting for fans, the negatives far outweighed the positives for the Cleveland Cavaliers in the proposed four-team, 10-player trade. The epicenter of the deal was to send Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard to the Brooklyn Nets. The teams enlisted the help of the Cavaliers because they had about $20 million in salary-cap space. The Cavaliers pulled...

Bound for Brooklyn, Stackhouse high on Nets

Jerry Stackhouse wouldnt mind having Dwight Howard as his new teammate. But if it doesnt happen, he still believes foes need to watch out for Brooklyn. Stackhouse, 37, said by phone Wednesday he will sign a one-year deal with the Nets for the veterans minimum of 1.35 million. Soon hell find out if Howard, who could be traded from Orlando to Brooklyn, will be a teammate. I think...

Rockets are doing ... something

The Rockets want you to notice them. They really do. That is about the only way you can explain the cry for attention Houston has subjected itself to this offseason so far. From amassing draft picks, to reportedly signing Jeremy Lin to an offer sheet, to going after Dwight Howard, the Rockets have been active. But for what purpose? This was a team after all that missed the Playoffs...
