PLAYERS: Dick Harter
TEAMS: Boston Celtics
It was almost 10 years ago that the Celtics had the greatest NBA playoff comeback by being down 21 points going into the 4th quarter and beating the NJ Nets.  The head coach was Jim O'Brien but their lead assistant, and defensive guru, was Dick Harter. Dick passed away at the age of 81 at his home in Hilton Head, SC. He was the first head coach for the Charlotte Hornets during their expansion season and served as an assistant on many other teams during his NBA run. Our condolences go out to Dick's family.

Report: Celtics offered Pierce to Portland

Color me skeptical... but's out there. While Boston Celtics boss Danny Ainge has said Rajon Rondo will not be traded, he is still actively seeking offers for members of the Big Three. The Celtics offered Paul Pierce to Portland -- I'm not sure what they asked for in return -- but the Blazers were not interested because of the two years and $32 million remaining...

Stiemsma's suffers foot injury

Chris Forsberg via ESPN Boston As if the Celtics needed anything else to worry about with their bigs, rookie center Greg Stiemsma, who did not play the final 13 minutes on Sunday, left the Staples Center with a walking boot on his right foot, apparently a precautionary measure as he moved around the locker room without issue immediately after the game. Stiemsma endured right foot...

Your Morning Dump... The Celtics didn't make shots

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. Yet when it counted, nobody could produce. Allen missed a 3-pointer and a jumper. Kevin Garnett missed an open jumper. Brandon Bass missed one of his customary midrange jumpers after hitting seven of his previous...

Chris Wilcox out for season with heart issue

And the Celtics get dealt another blow. Chris Wilcox will miss the remainder of the season with a heart issue. The Celtics have been dealt with another injury blow Wednesday afternoon when they learned that forward Chris Wilcox will not return this season because of a heart-related issue. …Wilcox, who underwent monthly heart examinations, was held out of the March 9 game against...

Boston Celtics need to shut up and play basketball

It’s been quite a while since I last composed an opinionated article on our Boston Celtics. Most of my opinions are now left for the listeners of CLNS Post/Pre Game Shows and The Celtics Late Night Show. I think our listeners receive ample share of my soap box ranting on the internet airwaves. It now [...]

Boston’s New Ray Allen: A High School Girl Named Nicole Nicole Boudreau Week continues today here in The Eagle-Tribune sports pages, several hours away from her sixth career game on the famed TD Garden parquet floor. Win or lose tonight — the Andover High girls basketball team is the favorite against Braintree in the Eastern Mass. final — my educated guess is this won’t be the last time you see her picture or...

Chris Wilcox officially out for the season with heart condition

It wasn't good news for Chris Wilcox, a source said the team has learned he won't be back this season #celtics — gary washburn (@GwashNBAGlobe) March 14, 2012 A players health is obviously more important than how something like this affects a basketball team. As Doc mentioned a few days ago it's a crazy coincidence to have this happen twice in one year to one team.

Dwight Howard opting in for 2012-2013 season, according to report

Just admit it: a small part of you, perhaps even a sliver deep inside your subconscious, held out hope that Danny Ainge could somehow convince Dwight Howard to join the Boston Celtics this summer. Perhaps you even envisioned a starting lineup of Howard and the current core four, with Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce rejuvenated alongside the game’s best center and Rajon...

Celtics take their Dunking Talents to Lob City

The LA Clippers are one of the most entertaining teams in the NBA and for good reason.  They dunk.  A lot.  Chris Paul tosses a ton of alley-oops to Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan and it's amazing to watch.  Well the OG Celtics had a few nice dunks of their own at Lob City.  Check out the video below for some nice dunks including: Avery Bradley's slashing one-hander...

It’s time for the Celtics and Lakers to Consider Taking a Huge Risk

Let’s do the Dwight Howard math for a moment.  At some point tomorrow, the Magic organization will realize it can’t trade enough of their spare parts to find a roster that makes Howard happy.  Then he will be quickly shopped by the team in an effort to get the best deal they possibly can before [...]

Your Morning Dump... Where Pierce doesn't have Steve Nash-like control

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. But when I asked Pierce if he wanted to end his career as a Celtic, there wasn't much passion in his response. It's probably a cautionary reflex that comes with being in the NBA long enough to see every...
