Found March 08, 2013 on Red's Army:
There is a famous scene in “Star Wars: A New Hope” where Han Solo and Chewbacca are fleeing from an angry and clumsy group of Stormtroopers trying to make their way to the Milennium Falcon.  As they are running down the corridor, you can hear one of the troopers yell ‘CLOSE THE BLAST DOORS!’  As the doors are slowly closing, Han and Chewie hop through cleanly, leaving all the troops behind them.  What does any of this have to do with the Celtics? This is admittedly a stretch, but this one play that Doc ran to free up Paul Pierce for a three during the Philly game sort of reminded me of that.  Check out the video below to see it in motion.  Here is the breakdown: AB brings the ball up and passes it to Courtney Lee to allow Pierce, Chris Wilcox and Brandon Bass to get set It appears at first, to be a basic high screen and roll with Wilcox as the screener, but Lee quickly passes it back to AB As Pierce cuts into the lane, bringing his man Evan Turner with him, Wilcox drop...

Paul Pierce sneaks into 76ers huddle

This is one of the better huddle-bombs you’re going to see.  Pierce doesn’t even try to sneak in…. he just walks right up brazenly, right past Spencer Hawes, who looks directly at him, and drapes his arm around two Sixers to listen in on the last few seconds. It’s so great, none of the Sixers even get pissed.  It’s like the end of an old Mentos commercial when everyone...

Pierce now battling bone bruise on his left knee

According to Forsberg of the worldwide leader local branch, Paul Pierce is now battling a bone bruise on his left knee. He suffered the injury in Philly, but it appeared to affect his play last night in Indiana shooting just 4 of 15 for just 13 points. He did play 34 minutes which is a good sign, but was seen with an ice pack on his knee in postgame interviews. I wouldn’t expect...

Celtics rumors: Boston nearly traded Paul Pierce

The Boston Celtics ultimately held onto veteran players Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett, as well as guard Rajon Rondo, through this season’s trade deadline. However, the club nearly dealt Pierce in a three-team trade that also involved the Atlanta Hawks and Dallas Mavericks, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports. As much as any of the proposed deals discussed in February...

Chris Wilcox 'pushed the limits of rehab' in his recovery from heart surgery

Earlier this week, Jessica Camerato of CSNNE had an awesome piece on Chris Wilcox recovery from last season's heart surgery. In the piece, Wilcox spoke about his March, 2012 surgery, and how he was literally racing against the clock to complete his rehab schedule in time for NBA camp. The Celtics back-up big man pushed himself so hard at point, that he ended up back in the hospital...

Wojnarowski: Paul Pierce for Josh Smith was “perhaps closest Pierce had come to parting with Celtics”

Paul Pierce was very nearly traded for Josh Smith at the deadline. We knew that Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett were both in danger of being traded at the deadline this season, but according to Yahoo!’s Adrian Wojnarowski, who is usually right about such things, the deal may have been as close as Pierce has come to leaving the Celtics in his career. From the Yahoo! article:Before the...

Paul Pierce Still Top Clutch Performer for Celtics, With Ball in Hands or Without

There was no brilliantly devised play call this time. If the Celtics’ last gut-check victory was an example of Paul Pierce‘s abilities as a $17 million decoy, their latest was a reminder in exactly why Doc Rivers usually puts the ball in this guy’s hands in the clutch. The most polarizing topic among Celtics fans might not be whether the team is better without Rajon Rondo or...

Video: Celtics player highlights vs Atlanta Hawks

Here are video highlights of Paul Pierce, Jason Terry, and Jordan Crawford from the game last night against the Atlanta Hawks. All of these videos are courtesy of OfficialCeltics. Paul Pierce had 27 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists. Jason Terry had 19 points and 5 assists, along with the biggest shot of the night: a 3-pointer to up the Celtics up 3 with 35 seconds left in overtime...

Comments from the Other Side - Hawks 3/8

It always amazes me when there is a team like the Hawks that is playing well and yet their fans aren't really behind them.    Unlike the Raptors, who aren't playing so well, yet have over a hundred pages on  3 or 4 different boards,  it's hard to find an active game thread for the Hawks.  I mean, even the Bobcats have a more loyal following than the Hawks.  I say...

Video: Jeff Green's game winning play

Finally, Doc Rivers listens to the fans and calls a play at the end of the game that isn't just a Paul Pierce iso. And it was awesome. Best win of the year? Best play of the year? Yes on both accounts. Via Reddit Video by HardwoodParoxysm09

Comments from the Other Side - Sixers 3/5

Good road win for the Celtics.  The Sixers have had it rough with injuries this season.  Poor Sixers fans want to root for a loss for more ping pong balls but they hate the Celtics so much that they are torn about it. Great game by Bradley.   I've highlighted a few favorites.  What are yours?  All the teams are tanking right now. Very hard to make progress in draft order...

Gutsy win: Boston Celtics rally to beat Indiana Pacers 83-81

Let me be honest: This game was billed as a potential playoff preview but Indiana is a team I’d rather avoid. The Pacers are a very good team, probably the only real challenger to the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference. A Celtics-Pacers series sounds like a more graceful version of last year’s grindy Celtics-76ers tilt, except this time the odds wouldn’t be in the Celtics...

Back Alley Brawl

There is no love lost between the Atlanta Hawks and Boston Celtics.  Ever since the teams clashed through seven hard-fought games in the first round of the 2008 Playoffs, it seems, both teams have had each others' number.  There have been matchups, dustups and confrontations - with notable incidents involving Paul Pierce and Al Horford, Jeff Teague and Ray Allen (to which KG...
