The Celtics got another all important win coming down the homestretch of the regular season. The Jazz gave the Celtics all they could handle in the 1st and 3rd quarters, but strong 2nd and 4th quarters allowed the C’s to win 94-82 over Utah. Kevin Garnett played an integral part in the big win as he posted yet another double-double (23 points, 10 rebounds). His 10 points in the 4th quarter helped seal the victory after the Celtics blew an 18-point lead.

Also playing  big for the Celtics were Rajon Rondo (14 assists), Brandon Bass (19 points) and Paul Pierce (20 points). Rondo only scored six points but he was at his best in the passing department as he was dazzling the Jazz with his pinpoint passes, usually resulting in dunks or easy layups for the rest of his teammates. Paul Pierce was his usual consistent self. Some nights he is completely on top of his game and scoring left and right. Other nights, like last night, he quietly puts together a 20-point performance and nobody really realizes until they check the final box score. Off the bench, Greg Stiemsma played 19 important minutes. Although he amassed five fouls, he played well on the defensive end with four rebounds, four big blocks and one steal.

The Jazz big men, Al Jefferson and Paul Millsap, combined for 34 points and 19 rebounds (a typical Kevin Love stat line). Meanwhile, Gordon Hayward played extremely well throughout the whole game scoring 19 points, grabbing 7 boards, and dishing out 5 assists.

The win moves Boston to 28-22 on the season, tying the Sixers for 1st place in the Atlantic Division (Philly owns the tiebreaker). Boston’s next game is Friday at 8pm as they travel to Minnesota to take on Kevin Love and the Timberwolves.
