Word from the Golden State Warriors came out several days ago that they were looking into Andris Biedrins. The Warriors apparently decided that they were going to try and fix him. For those of you who can’t speak NBA owners let me translate what that means. “No one wants this broken player and his giant contract.”. Don’t be fooled by the NBA speak. The Warriors want nothing to do with this mess of a player anymore but have no way of getting rid of him.
It would be great for both parties involved if Andris could be moved. Clearly Biedrins has had a mental breakdown. Just two years ago he was a very serviceable center and now he is a bad bench player. I think Nelson might have broke him over the years he had him. Let us not forget when Nelson publicly said that Andris should be shooting his free throws underhand and Andris blew up about that. That was the first public incident. Where there is smoke there is fire. You know there were many other things that must have gone on in practice before the public statement.
I am not blaming Nelson for Andris’s mental breakdown, even if he may have been the cause. This is someone who is playing in the NBA. You need to have thicker skin. Then again maybe it was that mixed with issues at home that caused the snap. Regardless of what it was his mind is now gone. I am hoping for his sake, once his contract with the Warriors is up, a change of scenery that isn’t blue and gold is what the doctor ordered.
So don’t be fooled by this talk of fixing Andris. He is a mess mentally and I doubt the doctor they hire is going to be able to fix his confidence. If for some reason this doctor is able to fix his head they should pay this guy a ton of money to travel with Biedrins for the rest of his career.
