Found June 11, 2013 on Celtics Life:
The Celtics are in the midst of an off-season for the ages. They do not know if Doc Rivers, Paul Pierce, or Kevin Garnett will return next season, this despite the fact that they currently hold contractual rights to all three. They also have their highest draft pick in six years, and are working out a boatload of players to see who they want to select with the 16th pick on June 27th. While nothing has happened yet, the next few weeks promise a flurry of activity across the board for the Celtics as they gear up for the 2013-14 season. Among the action will be the teams pursuit of free agents, as teams are allowed to begin negotiations with players on July 1st, and players can sign with teams starting as early as July 10th. With that in mind, we'll be taking a look at a slew of potential free agents over the next few weeks, baring in mind that the Celtics salary cap situation is still very unsettled. Today will start with Timberwolves center, and impending free agent, Nikola...

Report: Doc doesn’t want any part of full-blown rebuild

CSNNE’s Sherrod Blakely is the latest to report on the thoughts in Doc Rivers’ head: A league source told CSNNE.com on Monday that Rivers’ decision on whether he will return will not be based solely on whether Paul Pierce and/or Kevin Garnett are back in next season. Rivers’ hesitation to verbally commit to next season has more to do with his uncertainty as to what type...

Trying to Make Sense of the Doc Rivers Drama

As much as I try, I can't seem to make complete sense of what is happening right now with Doc Rivers. I get it that he needed a couple of weeks after the season to get his head straight and make a decision on whether he was coming back or not. But, it's been 6 weeks and he has been at the workouts and consulting with Danny on next season like he's coming back but he...

Report: Odds still “overwhelmingly” in favor of Doc returning, but still open to other jobs

Like sands through the hourglass, these are the Doc days of our lives.  So the roller coaster ride continues for Doc, the fans and the rest of the NBA world.  While Gary Tanguay went on his “Uno Sports Tonight” show on CSNNE and called Doc a “diva” and said he was holding the team hostage, Steve Bulpett on the Boston Herald did a little bit more dirty work and delivered...

A few days ago, Doc Rivers said he would “rather not say” if he was going to coach the Boston Celtics next season or step down.  Now, a source close to the situation told ESPN that the Celtics 9-year coach is ready for

Sources: Rivers Open To Other Coaching Opportunities

Doc Rivers is open to other high-profile coaching jobs, according to sources with knowledge of his intentions. According to one source, it’s fair to assume Rivers would want some measure of player personnel control if he were to accept a new job.  Rivers is expected to announce his intentions within the next several days.

Stephen A. hints that Doc is tired of Danny’s face

What I’m hearing is… he’s obviously strongly considering and leaning towards staying but it’s not etched in stone. The bottom line, the relationship has worn on one another. There are no situations where Doc Rivers does not like or does not respect Danny Ainge, it’s nothing like that. It’s just after working with someone for years and years and years, you’re willing...

If Doc leaves, who should replace him?

Is Lawrence Frank the best available successor? The "Doc Rivers might not be coming back" rumblings just won't go away, and now ESPN's Chris Broussard has got us thinking it could be more reality than rumor.  With that in mind, here are some names of potential coaches the Celtics may want to consider if Doc actually does calls it quit.  I see three different...

Doc Rivers Leaving Celtics Would Be Disastrous, But No Reason to Believe Coach Is Gone Yet

Ever since Ron Artest hit that improbable 3-pointer and Pau Gasol swiped that rebound away from Rajon Rondo in Game 7 the 2010 NBA Finals, Doc Rivers‘ status as the Celtics’ head coach has been on a year-to-year basis. Most people within and around the Celtics organization recognize this — the five-year contract he signed in 2011 notwithstanding — so they have gotten used...

Rajon Rondo Says Courtney Lee’s Doc Rivers Impression Is Best on Celtics (Video)

Rajon Rondo has played for Doc Rivers for seven years, so the 27-year-old point guard knows his coach fairly well. He also knows when someone’s impression of his coach is spot-on and when it needs work. Rondo has had a few teammates over the years who do an admirable impression of Rivers, but Rondo thinks Courtney Lee‘s is the best of all the current Celtics. In a wide-ranging...

Rajon Rondo Admits He Is Hard to Coach, Would Not Want to Play for Anyone But Doc Rivers

Rajon Rondo could be a little difficult to deal with early in his career. In fact, Rondo admits those days are not completely behind him. In a series of videos released by Red Bull, one of Rondo’s marketing partners, the Celtics point guard touched on his relationship with Doc Rivers and how his bond with his coach has grown over the years.
