Tony Allen Receives His Old, Blood-Stained Jersey From Celtics (Video)

Marc Gasol blocks eight shots in game

Relative to the way they began the season, the Memphis Grizzlies are really struggling right now.  They’ve dropped four of their last six, with Friday’s defeat being one of their most frustrating thus far.  In an 86-84 loss to the Blazers, Mike Conley missed a point-blank layup that would’ve given the Grizzlies a one-point lead with just seven seconds to go.  It was Memphis’s...

Rudy Gay Being Shopped?

But the Grizzlies are about $4 million over the luxury tax, staring at a very expensive four-man core that, if left intact, could take Memphis over the tax line in this season and the following two. Three straight tax seasons wouldn’t trigger the dreaded repeater tax penalties, but that path would hamstring Memphis’ roster-building flexibility during those three years and could...

Grizzlies Using Celtics’ Former Rough-and-Tumble Model to Become Legitimate Contenders in West

BOSTON — In Memphis, they are begging their team to play faster, even as one of the league’s best defensive squads piles up wins. If this sounds at all familiar, it is because this is one of the main criticisms the Celtics faced in recent years. This season’s underwhelming play notwithstanding, the Celtics have proved fairly definitively that a deliberate pace combined with...
