Grizzlies unveil new 'Beale Street Blue' threads

Taking a page from the Cavaliers' "push product" playbook, the Grizzlies have added a third alternate uniform for the 2009-10 season that Memphis and basketball fans throughout the Mid-South can call their own. Rawr!Made with a neon shimmer material "to mirror the signs on Beale Street that give off the same vibrant glow," the light blue jersey and shorts are offset with the Grizzlies original road colors along the sides. There is a yellow stripe in the middle of the dark blue print, which may or may not be inspired by the Egyptians. Seriously.The new threads have been in development for the past two years with the help of Grizzlies fans and players, including Rudy Gay(notes) and O.J. Mayo(notes), who were a part of the design process from the very first sketch to Tim Gunn's thorough and erudite advice.The uni will debut for the first time on Opening Night, when Memphis faces Detroit on Oct. 28.What do you think?
