Udonis Haslem is on the cusp of Heat history.
He enters Wednesday night's game against Milwaukee two rebounds away from passing Alonzo Mourning for Miami's all-time lead in that department.
Mourning grabbed 4,807 rebounds in 593 regular-season games with the Heat. Haslem is at 4,806 rebounds after 605 games.
Haslem has come a long way.
When he was trying to make the Miami Heat take notice of him a decade ago, assistant coach Keith Askins gave him one piece of unforgettable advice.
Askins told Haslem that everyone in the NBA can score, but not everyone rebounds.
Haslem took the hint and decided to make rebounding - a chore he didn't always embrace in college - a priority.
He made the team. And now, here he is 10 years later.

MIAMI Academic trash talking has hit the NBA.
Two foes battled fiercely on the court Wednesday night at AmericanAirlines Arena. But their war of words wasnt about which team won or which player had the better game. It was about who is better at general knowledge.
It all started when Miami forward Shane Battier claimed two weeks ago he can beat any player in the NBA in Jeopardy...

MIAMI Dwyane Wade is a 10-year veteran who turned 30 earlier this year. He just wrote a book about the responsibilities of parenthood.
But Wade said he still makes mistakes.
The Miami Heat guard said he made the wrong decision when he pushed to play last Wednesday at the Los Angeles Clippers after having suffered a left foot sprain two days earlier at Houston. He aggravated the...
The Heat are coming off of their second title in the last six years, but instead of having Dwayne Wade and Shaquille O’Neal, they had Wade, Chris Bosh and Lebron James. It is no surprise that they were the champions, as they simply have the league’s top core and surrounded their superstar triumvirate with a fabulous group of role players. However, the Heat have actually improved...
MIAMI (AP) -- Attention, Grinnell College basketball office: LeBron James wants the tape from Jack Taylor's record-setting scoring spree.
Or as "King James" is now calling Taylor, "Sir Jack."

Eddie House had one of those unforgettable nights for Arizona State a dozen years ago, paying back California for not recruiting him by torching them for 61 points.
That his memorable game didn't even match the second half of Jack Taylor's record-setting performance nearly left the loquacious House speechless.
''Eighty points in 20 minutes? Come on guy, that'...
MIAMI -- Udonis Haslem set the Miami Heat career rebounding record, and his team bounced back from some middle-of-the-game lapses to beat the Milwaukee Bucks, 113-106, in overtime, Wednesday night. MIAMI -- It's almost unfair. After the Bucks had rallied from 18 points down in a game that eventually went to overtime, Heat Coach Erik Spoelstra took out 6-2 point guard Mario Chalmers and put 6-8 LeBron James on 6-1 sharp-shooter Brandon Jennings. The result was a 6-0 start in the extra session and a 113-106 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks. The Heat (9-3) improved to...
While the Miami Heat proved plenty formidable on their recent road trip, they've been especially dominant on their own court.
The defending NBA champions, however, haven't had much of a home-court advantage against the Milwaukee Bucks of late.
In a matchup of first-place teams, the Heat try to extend their best home start in franchise history Wednesday night against the...
