Indiana Hoosiers: 1 Stunning Mike Woodson Decision Will Have Fans In Bloomington Scratching Their Heads
Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports

Indiana Hoosiers head coach Mike Woodson is not exactly a popular figure right now in Bloomington, but he will be back to coach the team for at least one more season, according to Zach Osterman of the Indianapolis Star.

Woodson will still be calling the shots for the Hoosiers in the 2024-25 college basketball season even though it’s more than likely that Indiana will miss the NCAA tournament this year. The Hoosiers have been struggling all season long, with not enough quality wins to be remotely considered as a potential 2024 March Madness team.

Woodson, who coached in the NBA for the Atlanta Hawks, and the New York Knicks, was hired by the Indiana Hoosiers in 2021 to be their head coach. He steered the Hoosiers to back-to-back March Madness appearances in his first two seasons with the team, but that streak is likely to end this year.

Will The Indiana Hoosiers Play In The 2024 March Madness?

As mentioned earlier, it is tough to imagine the Hoosiers grabbing one of the 68 spots in the Big Dance. They are only 17-13 overall with an 8-10 record against Big Ten opponents with only a game left in their regular-season schedule.

The Hoosiers only have three Quadrant 1 wins and four Quadrant 2 losses to go with a 3-1 Quadrant 3 record. The Hoosiers’ realistic route to the NCAA tournament is by going deep in the Big Ten tournament. Even then, they probably have to top that tourney to ensure their participation in the national tournament.

Indiana Sustains Late-Season Surge With Win Against The Minnesota Golden Gophers

The Hoosiers, who are on a three-game win streak after taking down the Golden Gophers on Wednesday, will play the Michigan State Spartans at home on Sunday in Indiana’s regular-season finale.

Against the Golden Gophers, Indiana leaned on the explosive performance of sophomore big man Kel’ el’ Ware, who had a double-double of 26 points and 11 rebounds and also had three assists and three blocks, while going 12/16 from the field in a 70-58 victory.
