Found December 31, 2011 on Cavaliers Locker:
The Cavaliers only shot 38.6% from the floor and they were outrebounded 60-49 last night, so they probably got blown out right?  Nope.  That is because the Cavs played stellar defense in holding the Pacers to 38.3% shooting from the floor.  The Cavs had the last shot in regulation, so they should have won this game, but Kyrie Irving’s shot barely missed, sending the game into O.T.  That is where the Pacers took over as they outscored the Cavs 14-7.  Kyrie Irving led the way for the Cavs last night with 20 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal and 1 blocked shot.  Anderson Varejao provided the muscle for the Cavs last night with 14 points, 13 rebounds, 1 steal and 1 blocked shot.  Antawn Jamison only shot 4 of 14 from the floor but he still finished up with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 3 blocked shots.  Anthony Parker (12 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals) and Alonzo Gee (10 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal and 1 blocked shot also pitched in for the Cavaliers last night....

Irving’s would-be game-winner spins out, Pacers take over in OT

A slice through the lane off an Anderson Varejao screen, open hardwood between him and the bucket, Kyrie Irving may have been just a little surprised that he was so wide open. As Danny Granger sliced through the lane, flying by in a panic to challenge the shot, he caused just enough disruption to break Kyrie’s concentration at the hoop as his game-winning layup try spun off the...

The rookies are off to a good start for the Cleveland Cavaliers

19-year old point guard Kyrie Irving and 20-year old power forward Tristan Thompson are off to fast starts for the Cavs.  Irving has not shot the ball too well (33.3%) as he is 7 of 21 from the floor, but, he is still playing solid overall basketball.  Irving has played in 2 games (both starts) for the Cavs so far this year and he is averaging 23.0 minutes, 10.0 points, 3.5 rebounds...

Cleveland rookie Kyrie Irving takes Coach K's advice: Cavaliers insider

Indianapolis -- Cavaliers rookie Kyrie Irving was taking advice this week from a coach other than Byron Scott. A cause for concern? Scott said in general terms it can be. But not when that coach is Coach K. Irving...

New Jersey Nets (1-3) at Cleveland Cavaliers (1-2), 6 p.m. (ET)

Kyrie Irving and the Cavaliers hope to bounce back from a heartbreaking loss when they entertain the reeling New Jersey Nets on New Year's Day.

Pacers barely overcome Cavs in OT

Another game, another win for the Indiana Pacers, who start the season 3-0 for the first time since 2007-2008 (let's forget what happened after that).  I could get used to this.In yet another struggle, the Pacers dodged a bullet and overcome no.1 overall pick Kyrie Irving and the Cleveland Cavaliers, 98-91 in OT.  This was another scrappy game punctuated by an overall team...

Nets face Cleveland Cavaliers, Kyrie Irving on Sunday

Can’t resist The Trist: Thompson making an immediate impact in Wine and Gold

Flashback to June 23rd, 2011 and yours truly watching the NBA Draft at my college house in Columbus. Knowing that Kyrie Irving was a near certainty and still basking in the warmth of our new point guard on board, the number four came as a shock to me. The pick: Tristan Thompson, the 6’9″ freshman power forward out of Texas. Admittedly, I had not researched Thompson nearly as...

Cleveland Cavaliers lose to Indiana Pacers in overtime

INDIANAPOLIS -- The 19-year-old kid wanted the ball in his hands. That's why the Cavaliers drafted him, right? To be a difference-maker in moments like these. Kyrie Irving had taken three of his team's previous four shots, and with...

Cavaliers Show Peek of Princeton Offense

It was poetic. It was fluid.  It even led to a Byron Scott smile. One placed roughly one foot above a set of crossed arms, but a smile is most definitely a smile. The first quarter featured a young Cavalier team trading largely in slop, ultimately resulting in double-digit turnovers and a few head-scratching moments vis a vis extra, perhaps unnecessary pass attempts. But once this...

Cavs Looking To Bounce Back With Win Tonight At Home Over Nets

Gloria Clemente once told Billy Hoyle in White Men Can't Jump that, "sometimes when you win, you really lose, and sometimes when you lose, you really win." In her case I believe she was referring to either Jeopardy or 2-on-2 basketball games where guys where bicycle hats and / or fluorescent baseball caps while exchanging disparaging comments about each other's...
