It sounds like he's mad that the team as a whole blew that lead, and that they haven't exactly been playing well this year. I'm sure he also might want more playing time as any athlete would, but I don't think it was specifically a cheap shot at Doc.
After the Celtics blew an 11-point lead in the final five minutes of Sunday's eventual 88-87 loss to Cleveland at the Garden, Paul Pierce was asked about what happened to his team and appeared to be taking some shots at head coach Doc Rivers. (ESPN Boston)
And, for Pierce, there also was frustration about a lack of fourth-quarter playing time, the 14th-year veteran openly wondering if things might have been different if he played more than the final 3:42, when the Cavaliers closed on an 8-0 run (part of a 12-0 spurt) and rookie Kyrie Irving's driving layup with 2.6 seconds to go provided the winner. "Maybe I should play a little bit more, I don't know," Pierce said when questioned about what the Celtics have to do to maintain a fourth-quarter edge. Asked if he was disappointed in being put back in so late, Pierce snapped, "No comment." "I'm more upset with losing, more so than not getting back in," he ...

As usual, Mr Pierce is complaining about playing time... If he stepped his game up, I'm sure Doc would have gotten him in. Doc has some how gotten this aging team to the post season for many years now, so I am not going to rally against him. I am not a Celtic fan but I like Pierce and company. P.Pierce; You can fix all of this by playing like a vet/superstar consistantly.

Doc Rivers in the Running for Father of the Year
Remember when Doc was weighing whether he wanted to stay on as the Celtics head coach or spend at least a year away from coaching so he could spend more time watching his kids play collegiately? Well it looks like he has figured out a way to do both. It seems every time I turn on a tv and see Duke, there's Doc in the stands. Like today for instance. Duke defeated St. John'...
Celtics Live Blog: Paul Pierce, C's Seek Revenge Against Cavaliers in Cleveland
8 a.m.: After giving up 12 unanswered points to close out Sunday's loss, the Celtics travel to Cleveland looking for a measure of revenge against the Cavs. Ray Allen is expected to make his second start since returning from an ankle injury, and although Paul Pierce was upset over his playing time in the fourth quarter Sunday, he gave no indication that his unhappiness would carry...
Is Brandon Bass' Play the Most Pleasant Surprise for the Celtics This Season?
Paul Pierce was too old and too fragile two weeks ago. Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge even floated the possibility of trading the 14-year veteran. Pierce has played with newfound furor since then, averaging 24.5 points over the last five games while regularly posting double-digit totals in rebounds and assists. It's a surprising development for a soon...
Cavs' comeback falls short in loss to Celtics
CLEVELAND (AP) -- Paul Pierce scored 20 points, Ray Allen had 12 in the third quarter and the Boston Celtics avenged a disappointing loss to Cleveland two days ago by barely holding off the Cavaliers 93-90 on Tuesday night.
The Celtics, who blew an 11-point lead at home Sunday in the final four minutes and lost by one, led by 22 late in the third quarter.
However, the Cavs rallied...
Comments From the Other Side - Cavs 1/31
We almost had another big lead lost loss, but thankfully the Celtics pulled it out this time. The Cavs fans aren't a very chatty bunch compared to others and I think criticize their own players as much as they do the other team but they definitely don't like the Celtics. They are even willing to derail their tanking to beat them. I'd love to have Varejao. though, he...
Doc Rivers: Anderson Varejao is an All-Star
[Anderson] Varejao’s energy is just amazing. It’s amazing to watch him run around relentlessly, and pursue [loose] balls…Varejao’s always an All-Star as far as I’m concerned. I think they should keep a spot for a role player. That’s what he does, he plays his role…He had 20 points and they didn’t run one [offensive] set for him…Down the stretch, he and Kyrie [Irving...

Rumors of the Celtics Demise are Greatly Exaggerated
I know this blog has been overly Celtics heavy of late; but they just keep doing such surprising things, so I don’t really have a choice. The two spectacular victories over Orlando, combined with Friday night’s win against Indiana, puts Boston in the midst of one of the most unexpected winning streaks in a long time. There were two things that were supposed to be...

’80′s Celtics vs. ’00′s Spurs
DanThe Big Three dominated their decade with an iron fist. No, I’m not talking about the Miami Heat, yet. No I’m not talking about Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett either. I’m talking about the original Big Three, Larry Bird, Kevin McHale and Robert Parish. They amassed three championships together, six seasons with 60 wins [...]Sports-Kings - The Kings of Sports Lists
