Jameer Nelson has been a stalwart in the Magic lineup for eight years. Longevity gets you close to all kinds of records. Tonight, Nelson will likely reach one of these milestones passing one of the Magic's all-time great point guards. Thanks to eight assists Saturday against New York, Nelson moved one assist away from tying Scott Skiles' franchise record of 2,776 assists. Considering Nelson is averaging a career-high 6.8 assists per game this season and has a 31.8 percent assist rate. Tonight Nelson will enter the Magic record books. Sure it took him 8.5 years and it took Skiles only five years. But who is counting? Longevity counts for something. Nelson has had a kind of torn relationship with passing. Magic running on fumes, falling to Blazers

Orlando could not get stops and could not be stopped. That was the kind of game it was at the Rose Garden. Several players took turns just carrying the Magic offense and getting the ball moving. Arron Afflalo had his way in the first quarter. Josh McRoberts and J.J. Redick had it going in the second quarter. Redick got it going in the fourth again. Then Jameer Nelson closed things...

Magic head out West again

At the beginning of December, the Magic were on a three-game losing streak and asking some of the same questions they are asking now. Will things fall apart? Will the team come together or fold on the rigors of the road? During that five-game road trip, Jacque Vaughn would learn more about his team. When the Magic came out all guns blazing against the Lakers and found themselves...

Checking in on Maurice Harkless' growth

It is hard to gauge Maurice Harkless these days. Statistics do not quite do it. He has started 20 games, a streak that ended a few weeks ago, and is scoring only 3.8 points per game, shooting 46.5 percent from the floor. Again, those do not quite capture Harkless' play. For the most part on offense, Harkless is asked to stand in the corner and wait for the ball or wait...
