The Boston Herald reported today that Boston Celtics center Jermaine O'Neal will be out another 2 weeks with his wrist injury, and according to Danny Ainge, he will need surgery at some point. JO injured his wrist last season and opted not to operate on it. After meeting with a hand specialist yesterday, O’Neal decided to forgo surgery once again, instead opting for a cortisone shot. According to Celtics president Danny Ainge, O’Neal could be out for another 14 days while waiting for the pain-killing drug to do its work. “He’s going to need surgery at some point,” said Ainge. “But he’ll play with it for now. He needed the surgery last season but wanted to play. Now, though, they think he’ll be ready to play in another 10 or 14 days.” O’Neal has missed the last three games with the injury, and nine overall for assorted maladies. O’Neal is averaging 5.0 points, 5.4 rebounds and 22.8 minutes in 25 games this season.

Rumor mill: Danny Ainge is offering KG for Josh Smith

Mitch Lawrence of the NY Daily News has this tidbit: So let the Celtics break up their Big Three, which is what the Knicks’ opponents this Sunday in Boston are actively trying to do. Team president Danny Ainge realizes that the Celtics won’t win the title and can only make the playoffs. That’s not good enough for a franchise that proudly flies 17 championship banners...

How And When Will Danny Ainge Rebuild The Boston Celtics?

The Boston Celtics; otherwise known as “Team Streak” on these pages; are back at it again as they won their third straight game since coming back from the All-Star break, as they defeated the New Jersey Nets on Friday, by a final margin of 107-94. The victory puts the club one game over the .500 mark with a record of 18-17, as they head into a crucial game on Sunday as they...

Danny Ainge assembling pieces to make final run at Floridian condo complex

Boston, MA--Following a season in which he swapped a 27 year-old up and comer for a peripheral player with an ailing heart, Danny Ainge is spending the 2012 season working overtime to trade sprightly all-pro Rajon Rondo for anyone interested in the luxurious comforts of a Naples time-share. “It’s not everyday you find a deal like this,” said Ainge, while pouring over ...

Danny Ainge denies Rajon Rondo trade rumors

In a classic tale of he-said, she-said, Danny Ainge told the Boston Herald he is not shopping Rajon Rondo and has not mentioned Rondo’s name in trade discussions since the summer.“I anticipate him being here for a long time,” the Celtics president said when asked about Rondo’s immediate future.“These rumors have never stopped, but I haven’t made a call mentioning Rondo’s...

Jermaine O’Neal cleared to play?

If I’m reading the latest twist in the Jermaine O’Neal saga correctly — there’s a chance I’m not, since what I’m reading is pretty odd — the center has been cleared to play by a hand specialist after experiencing soreness in his wrist, but still did not suit up last night and it’s unknown when he’ll return. (Boston Herald)The Celtics center saw a specialist...

Celtics interested in Josh Smith

It seems no team has been involved in more trade talk rumors this season than Boston, with the latest chatter being that they would like to add Atlanta's soaring star to their roster.

Woj: Paul Pierce most likely to be traded from Boston Celtics

On NBC Sports Talk Tuesday night, Adrian Wojnarowski said Doc Rivers and Danny Ainge have decided internally that the Boston Celtics are not contenders. No big shock there, since they have both presumably been watching the same games we have. But Woj added that Paul Pierce — not Rajon Rondo or anybody else — is the most likely Celtic to be traded prior to the March 15 deadline...

Danny Ainge Expects Rajon Rondo to Remain in Boston for 'Long Time,' Doc Rivers 'Tired' of Trade Talks

It's time to pump the brakes on the Rajon Rondo trade talks, at least according to Celtics head coach Doc Rivers and C's president Danny Ainge. Rivers addressed the continued trade speculation centered around the Celtics' All-Star point guard, and Rivers sounded confident that Rondo isn't going anywhere. The head coach told ESPN.com that he spoke with Ainge on Wednesday...

Wojnarowski: Paul Pierce is the "most likely" player for the Celtics to trade

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, Doc Rivers and Danny Ainge have decided — or have been forced to come to the realization — that the Boston Celtics are not championship contenders and they are ready to make some deals for the future. Woj also believes that Paul Pierce would be the most likely candidate to get shipped out of town. Wojnarowski points to...

Celtics Vs. Nets: Boston Buries New Jersey, 107-94

Boston Celtics, I don’t even know you anymore.Back above .500? Blowing out a cellar-dweller? Not letting the Nets back in the game after an 18-point halftime lead? Rajon Rondo talking to reporters shortly after the game?I could get used to aggressive, double-double machine Kevin Garnett again, or 35 team assists (13 from the Kentucky cancer, mind you). Of course, I shouldn...

Semantics! Double speak! Hooray for uninformed rumor mongering!

This is the crap that makes my eyes bleed. Appearing on the Dan Patrick Show Sam Smith, writer for Bulls.com, was asked who was more likely to be dealt, Steve Nash or Rajon Rondo. “I think Ainge is pretty close to wanting to pull the trigger,” said Smith.  I think he's pretty close to wanting to pull the trigger. So... he doesn't want to pull the trigger...
