Josh Smith says he expected not to make the All-Star team after getting his hopes up last year. He is however, devastated, that none of his teammates made the team and 2 non-playoff bound players (Jrue Holiday and Kyrie Irving) did:
Q. What do you think about the fact that there are no Hawks on the team?
A. Now that is a devastation. To have two people … that probably aren’t going to make the playoffs that are on the All-Star list, I feel that one of us should have made it, me or Al. I’ve seen stranger things happen. I can’t really worry about it or scratch my head on decision that the coaches made. It is what it is. Hopefully, me and Al (Horford) can take out our frustrations on the Eastern Conference teams from here on out.

I'm with him about the non playoff bound players. The starters are one thing because that's who the fans want to see. The reserves are voted by the coaches and there are too many deserving players that should be in front of guys with no hope of reaching the playoffs.Like I'll never understand Curry not being picked.

Josh Smith wants a BIG payday
via Atlanta Journal:
Now I will give Josh Smith some credit that he should have made the all-star cut, but after coming off suspension, it’s safe to say that he eliminated his candidacy for the roster spot. The Hawks have only given one max contract in their history which made Joe Johnson a very rich man (six years, $123.6 million). He’s in Brooklyn now. Josh Smith believes...
Josh Smith Thinks He Deserves A Max Contract
Much has been made of Josh Smith being a free agent after this season and whether the Atlanta Hawks will trade him before the deadline. The Los Angeles Lakers have been a popular ending point for Smith, as the team clearly needs to infuse some athleticism into their roster.
It’s unsure what kind of contract Smith will yield on the open market, as someone who can look like the best...
Josh Smith “Devastated” that Irving and Holiday made All-Star Team over Hawks players
via Atlanta-Journal Constitution
Smith wasn’t named to the Eastern Conference All-Star team Thursday night. That makes eight consecutive years he hasn’t been honored. Most of those seasons, nobody could argue. But this season’s omission is a huge injustice.
Smith has been a consistent performer this season, with only a few hiccups. He has been forced to take on a bigger role...

Hawks’ Josh Smith: I Deserve A Max Contract
This is all that matters right now about [Josh] Smith, specifically regarding his tenuous future with the Hawks: His contract is expiring and his asking price for a new one is going to be high. It’s going to hit the ceiling. It’s why his days in Atlanta may be numbered.

Celtics-Hawks Live: Rajon Rondo Meets Up With Good Friend Josh Smith As Two Teams Search for Consistency
8 a.m. ET: Maybe Josh Smith can give his old high school teammate some pointers on getting through a rough stretch of losses. Smith and the Hawks are 5-8 in January, although they have won their last two by taking care of two sub-.500 clubs. As you might have noticed, that is exactly what the Celtics are at the moment.
Rondo’s triple-double was not enough Thursday to prevent the...

Comments from the Other Side - Hawks 1/25
Well, that wasn't fun. It's becoming clear that the bench is finally coming around but now the starters are slumping. The second unit gave us that big lead in the second quarter and then it went away when the starters came back in. But there's progress. We at least got one great half of basketball. One thing that always strikes me is all the complaints...
