By Ralph Guerrero  Today the NBA announced that J.R. Smith has been assessed a $5,000 fine for flopping. The flop came in game one against the Indiana Pacers with 3:21 left in the 4th quarter. He definitely embellished the hit and went down in a heap.  Here is the video of the flop.  Smith drew an offensive foul call on Pacer PF David West, who was called for an illegal screen on Smith.  There definitely was contact and it looked to be the correct call on the floor, but the fine no doubt comes from the way Smith hit the floor on the play. The NBA looked to crack down on flopping in the regular season and went a step further to start the playoffs. To start the post season the NBA laid out the new rules for flopping.  No warnings would be given; $5K for first offense; $10K for second; $15K for third; $30K for fourth.  A fifth offense could result in a larger fine or even suspension. In related news, Bulls PF, Taj Gibson, has been fined $25,000 for his verbal abuse to officials in the Bulls blow-out loss to the Heat.
