Let me just save the thoughts for the Brooklyn - Boston trade for another day and dive right into the NBA Draft and what Danny Ainge brought to Boston with the lone first round pick he had. So far, Danny's draft picks have been uneven for the most part -  has has drafted our current point guard and face of the franchise in Rajon Rondo, our foremost defensive bulldog in Avery Bradley, and...not much else. No offense to JaJuan Johnson, E'Twaun Moore, Luke Harangody and Semih Erden - but I didn't exactly leap off my couch when David Stern announced their names. Of course, Boston's winning records for the past six years ensured that our first round selections have been in the middle of the rounds at best. Realistically, Ainge isn't R.C. Buford, whose strong scouting department has selected some gems while picking in the lower rungs of the draft. Which brings me to my point: Kelly Olynyk is NOT Jared Sullinger. Olynyk, who will be formally introduced by the team on Monday with second-round pick Colton Iverson, arrives with a reputation as a high-IQ player -- his father, Ken, coached the University of Toronto and the Canada junior men's national team. Sound like a familiar bio? Jared Sullinger, Boston's top pick last season, came with a similar reputation; he slid down the draft board because of concerns over his back. I usually think Chris Forsberg is pretty spot on, but I can't help but disagree on this statement.  First off, Kelly Olynyk is an atrocious rebounder. For a seven footer, his total rebounding rates are terrible. Granted, he only played meaningful minutes in his junior season after a redshirt year, but still, 7.3 rebounds per game is not acceptable. There are concerns about his strength, and he gets pushed around out of position, particularly on the defensive boards, allowing offensive grabs to the opposition and second chance opportunities. With stronger, quicker athletes in the next level, it will be a rough rookie season for the Gonzaga product unless he develops his strength. Consider Jared Sullinger's college rebounding numbers: 10.2 per game in his freshman season, and 9.2 in his sophomore year. Those are monster numbers, coming from a guy who is three inches shorter and is not the best jumper in the world. I admit that I loved the Sullinger pick in 2012, and did not exactly love the Fab Melo pick, so I was looking for Danny to get a defender, a leaper, a rim protector - anything other than another guy who can't jump. Why should he complement Sullinger with another base leaper? And let's remember that we don't have KG to teach the nuances of defense and positioning to our bigs anymore. For Danny Ainge, I can see Olynyk's appeal. He's a seven footer who can score and shoot the basketball, and he's as versatile as they come on the offensive end. He has also been lauded for his basketball IQ, much like Sullinger, but that and their minimal vertical leaps are the only comparing points. Olynyk can be many things, but he is not Jared Sullinger.
