Kevin Garnett balled out during the NBA playoffs. Next year would be his 18th NBA season however, and he's 36 years old. He is on the books for just over $20 million next year too, and is contemplating retirement. If he does retire, or his rights are renounced by the Celtics, $20 million dollars is quite a number for Danny Ainge to work with. The Celtics are rebuilding, and that could go a long way towards helping that effort.  Kevin Garnett being around one more season can also help that effort, if he wants to be. Or if he can be. Free agency opens on July 1st, and the clock will start ticking then for KG. In an interview this week with Boston sports radio, Danny Ainge said he does not necessarily expect Garnett to make his decision right away either. This via ESPN Boston: "Kevin and I had a good conversation last week and the conversation was mostly on how he needs time before he makes that decision," Ainge said during an in-studio appearance Wednesday afternoon ...

Ainge discusses Garnett's future

Celtics GM Danny Ainge spoke about Kevin Garnett's future and boiled it down to two likely possibilities for the Hall of Famer.

Top Ten Reasons Why Kevin Garnett Is Thinking About Retirement

10) Since he skipped college and has played in a bunch of playoff games, he's actually 73 years old9) Keeps getting called for fouls he totally did not commit, and his conscience just can not abide it8) These young'uns keep failing to show him the proper deference and respect when he elbows them in the groin7) If you had to hang out with, and defend the action of, Rajon Rondo...

JaJuan Johnson picked KG’s brain all season long

We’re a bit obsessed with Kevin Garnett, because Kevin Garnett is the trigger to the entire Celtics offseason.  He’s also a freak of nature who played some amazingly great basketball at 36 years old, after 17 years in the league, at the end of a compressed season that killed everyone physically.  The simple fact is, he’s still good, so we still want him. There’s another...

Celtics Should Be Careful What They Wish for When It Comes to Kevin Garnett's Future

The Celtics are at a crossroads this offseason, and they really won't know what they can do until they hear back from a future Hall of Famer. C's president Danny Ainge said that if Kevin Garnett does not retire, it's likely that the free agent would return to Boston. Ainge also said that there's a chance that Garnett will take a wait and see approach before deciding...

Flip Saunders is Confident In Kevin Garnett’s Return To The Celtics

Flip Saunders knows Kevin Garnett almost as well as anybody in NBA circles. Saunders coached Garnett for a while back in KG’s Minnesota Timberwolves’ days. One would tend to believe then that when it comes to KG, anything that Saunders has to say about the future of the 14- time All-Star Forward/Center has got to [...]

Your Morning Dump… KG will take another week to decide on his future

Photo by Mike Ehrmann/Getty Images Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. At the moment, Ainge believes that Garnett will come back but until a decision is...

Your Morning Dump… Where Danny wants to reload for another run

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. “I’m giving Kevin a little bit of space these last four or five days and we’ll continue to communicate,’’ Ainge said. “He has not made any decisions yet, but we’ll communicate soon.’’ When...
