The Boston Celtics escaped with a win over the Washington Winners in yet another lackluster performance on Wednesday night, which has many wondering how long it will take this year’s edition of the Green Team to finally start firing on all cylinders. After bringing in a number of new faces like Courtney Lee, Jason Terry and Jared Sullinger and losing a key veteran like Ray Allen, it’s no surprise it seems to be taking a bit of time. Kevin Garnett was asked if chemistry was an issue for the Celtics following last night’s win, and he used an interesting analogy that wound up sounding like an insult toward Comcast — one of the Celtics’ biggest partners. “You can’t speed chemistry up,” Garnett said according to WEEI.com. “I think the more practice, the more you get familiar with each other. There’s no hit the fast forward button here. You’ve got Comcast. Some shows you can’t fast forward through. You’ve just got to let it go through and watch the silly ass commercials and be pissed, right? This is what this is. “Did I just take a shot at Comcast? [Expletive] it, I did it. So what? I’m a DirecTV guy anyway. This is what this is. I’m not helping myself, am I? [Expletive] it. [Expletive] it. [Expletive] it. Who cares? Anyway, that’s what this is. We totally messed that up, right? Goddamned, we just totally messed that up. But this is one of those things where it just takes its course and you can’t speed anything up.” Ouch. The commercials comment is one thing, but saying you’re a DirecTV guy? Come on K.G., you know better than that. Then again, Garnett saying incredibly bizarre things is one of the reasons Comcast Sports Net’s rating have been through the roof over the past five years, so I’m sure they’re just fine with The Big Ticket speaking his mind.
