The Sporting Blog:
This Francisco Garcia injury is so patently absurd, so comically random, that it's hard to even find it funny. Hearing that someone broke his arm due to an exercise ball malfunction is the kind of thing that keeps you from leaving the house, even to buy groceries. Also, it might be easier to swallow if it happened, say, to some scrub who didn't deserve our attention. Garcia is a very good player who happens to toil for a lousy team.
He's spent much of his career limited by rotation congestion. But 2009-10 was supposed to be the year he got his starting spot, and he'd definitely earned it. Oh, and with everyone praising the selection of Tyreke Evans, the Kings—the NBA's worst team last year—are now getting some attention heading into this season. This is not a good time for Garcia to fall apart, take months to recover and then spend the whole season looking not quite right.
You might think this was a freak occurrence, proving that (no pun intended)...
