Let’s put aside horrendous calls against the New York Knicks made by non-replacement referees, and focus on a jubilant Knicks club riding a winning streak. Anyone would be a little bit cocky after knocking down team after team, some of who were deemed better than you at the beginning of the season. The Knicks have a swagger about them, with added cockiness I’m sure Rihanna would like to get a piece of at this point. In the Knicks previous contest, versus the Houston Rockets, the defense wasn’t operating well by any means. Forcing turnovers has been a staple thus far for the Knicks this season, you couldn’t tell last night. Disrupting shot attempts, scrapping for loose balls, and tenacity was not visible in all of the Knicks not just Carmelo. Granted the Knicks were on a road trip making stops at two points of the dreaded, Texas triangle. In the loss against the Dallas Mavericks, the Knicks shot the ball well, but lacked energy at the end they’ve spoiled us with at the beginning of the regular season. I don’t think this is a case of the Knicks age rearing its ugly head, but a syndrome all top tier teams encounter. Playing down to the competition. This Knicks club needs to take it to each opponent night-in and night-out, leaving no doubts about their intentions to retain a title this season. Defense has been the golden goose and you can expect head coach, Mike Woodson, to enforce this notion in time for tomorrow’s match-up against the Detroit Pistons. Melo may want to huddle his Knicks teammates together and figure out a way to tackle their rebounding woes. Rebounding the basketball, besides age and health should be the Knicks only concern for the remainder of the season. Amar’e Stoudemire isn’t known for his prowess on the boards, so the Knicks can’t count on his return alleviating their issues. Cocky is a harsh label to put on the Knicks club so early this season. Still you won’t find many other reasons why the Knicks lost two consecutive games for the first time under Woodson’s tenure as head coach. Perhaps a glitch in the matrix could be the cause, if you’re into that sort of thing. Defense is a label the Knicks have adorned confidently and effectively this season, the team must continue to do so moving forward. Hopefully the Knicks lick the persuasion that put the team into this rut, so they can relish in their winning ways yet again. Follow Me On Twitter

  • Carmelo is getting beat up every single time he's involved in a play. Chandler is not living up to that defensive force everyone keeps talking about. He also gets no respect from the refs. He gets called for fouls when he's not even facing the player.
He doesn't challenge any shots even when not in foul trouble.
Now it's not all on the refs.Just like last season they play down to their opponents thinking "won" instead of "win". It's only 2 games they lost but they better get on the ball before it ends up being 10 or 20.

Felton not a fan of Lin comparison

New Knicks point guard Raymond Felton doesn't understand why he's compared to former New York point guard Jeremy Lin.

Knicks’ coach Mike Woodson thought of Jeremy Lin as a backup

Jeremy Lin may be gone, but the non stop chatter about him isn’t. The constant comparison of Jeremy Lin to Raymond Felton along with the question of whether the Knicks are a better team with or without Jeremy Lin appears not be ending anytime soon. The newest rumor to flood out of New York’s camp is coach Mike Woodson did not look at Jeremy Lin as a starter, but rather a backup...

Raymond Felton said the measurement comes down to track record, and on that, there is no comparison.

Pistons-Knicks Preview

The New York Knicks turned in some strong defense during their 8-1 start, but that disappeared over the club's first set of consecutive losses. The Knicks will look to regroup Sunday and try to remain perfect at Madison Square Garden as they meet an improving Detroit Pistons team. New York (8-3) was limiting opponents to 42.9 percent shooting over its first nine games but that...

Knicks-Nets Preview

The Nets relocated to the New York Knicks' backyard, and were looking to start the season by showing off their new home to the neighbors. Superstorm Sandy put those plans on hold. After waiting for over three weeks, the Nets finally get to host the Knicks on Monday night in what is now an early season matchup between the two top teams in the Atlantic Division. The Nets'...

Knicks suffer a real bad loss to the Rockets 131-103

The Houston Rockets (6-7) beat the New York Knicks (8-3) 131-103, last night at the Toyota Center in Houston, TX. This was an unwatchable if you were a Knicks fan. No defense, no sense of urgency and no shot for the Knicks winning this game. The defense got exposed by giving up easy layups, easy three pointers and getting beat in the paint. This was Mike Woodson's worse loss...

Grinnell's Taylor finishes with 21 in loss

Jack Taylor's encore for his record-setting performance was OK, just nowhere near his previous game. Taylor scored 21 points, but Grinnell College lost 131-116 to William Penn on Sunday night. He was 6 for 21 from the field, making 3 of 13 attempts from 3-point range, in the first loss of the season for the Pioneers (3-1). Everyone from LeBron James to Carmelo Anthony was talking...

Knicks Bounce Back In Time To Rumble in Brooklyn With Nets

After losing back to back contests in rather frustrating fashion to both the Mavericks and Jeremy Lin's Rockets, the Knicks were in need of a redemption win. With the team set to charge into Brooklyn on Monday night to take on the Nets, a tune-up was necessary. The pressure is on to defeat the emerging local "rival" as it is, so it wouldn't help much if the Knicks...
