Found May 14, 2013 on Turn On The Knicks:
The New York Knicks face a must win game in a hostile environment tonight. Between JR Smith’s spreading illness, his lack of ability to hit a jump shot, and Tyson Chandler complaining to the media these are troubling times. Yet, all it takes is one victory to get this to a best of 3 series where the Knicks have home-court advantage. This series isn’t over but how can the Knicks turn it around? As Always - The Knicks are going to go as far as Carmelo Anthony takes them. Sixteen shots isn’t going to cut it when JR Smith can’t score, Jason Kidd is a non-offensive entity and Ray Felton is struggling. We are due for a “F This, I’m taking over and getting 35-40 points tonight and making sure we win this game” – Is that selfish? Is that more ISO ball? Maybe. But it is what the Knicks need tonight. Anthony is the best player in this series and he has take over at some point. Are you really that confident with him consistently passing up shot opportunities tonight so Kidd or Smith can brick...

Smith takes blame for Knicks

Knicks swingman J.R. Smith has not been good during the team's second-round series against the Indiana Pacers, which New York trails 3-1 after Tuesday's 93-82 loss in Indy. Of that, there is no dispute -- not even from Smith, himself. Through four games, the recently crowned sixth man of the year has averaged 13.3 points, nearly five below his season average, and the way...

J.R. Smith’s Illness Feels Like Only Part of Story for Knicks Guard as Struggles Continue

It goes without saying that J.R. Smith has not been the same player in the playoffs that he was in the regular season, when he averaged 18.1 points off the bench and earned the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year award. Calling him a “no-show” lately would be generous. At least if he were a no-show, his effect on the Knicks would be neutral. Instead, he is starting to outright hurt...

Is Tyson Chandler Justified In Calling Out Knicks Teammates?

Though he did earn himself a spot on the NBA's "All-Defensive" First Team Monday afternoon, Tyson Chandler's struggles in the postseason have arguably been more obvious than anyone else's.There's no doubt the big man has had a tough time containing the Pacers' Roy Hibbert throughout the Knicks' series against the Pacers. He hasn't done much to...

Coach Woodson Is Afraid J.R. Smith’s Virus May Spread To Teammates

J.R. Smith and teammate Kenyon Martin both missed New York Knicks practice on Sunday due to an illness via ESPN.  J.R. Smith was noted to have a high fever Saturday, but went on to play for 25 minutes in the Game 3 loss; during that game he went a measly 4-of-12 from the field and [...]The post Coach Woodson Is Afraid J.R. JR Smith: “I Take The Blame For This Whole Series”

Even though Smith has been shooting 28% this series against the Pacers in the 2nd round playoff, the Sixth Man of The Year cant let his slumps get the best of him. From NY Daily News, speaking after their disappointing 93-82 lost to the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday night, JR Smith gave every Knick fan a place to take their blame… him. “My frustration with myself is extremely high...

Carmelo on Chandler Saying Knicks are Selfish: “I Don’t Know What He’s Talking About”

After shooting 35 percent and scoring only 71 points during game 3 against the Pacers, the New York Knicks find themselves looking in the mirror yawning for an identity on the court as they approach game 4 tonight. While everyone was showering their special lady for Mother’s Day, Tyson Chandler was busy watching tapes, and vocalizing what he feels is the issue with the Knicks,...

Knicks’ J.R. Smith, Kenyon Martin out again with illness

For the second day in a row the New York Knicks were withoutguard J.R. Smith and forward Kenyon Martin, as both players continued to battle illness. Considering the lingering illnesses both players are facing, coach Mike Woodson told reporters – including Ian Begley of ESPN – that Smith and Martin will be game-time decisions for tonight’s Game 4 matchup against the Indiana...

Carmelo Anthony responds to Tyson Chandler's 'selfish offense' claim

New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony has responded to comments made by teammate Tyson Chandler insinuating that the team was playing selfishly on offense."I really don't want to go back and forth about that because I really don't know exactly what he was talking about. But if he feels that way, we're about to get together right now. We'll discuss that amongst...

Caption the Photo: John Starks and JR Smith Sharing a Moment

John Starks gets a bit of a bad rap, without him the Knicks wouldn’t have been as good during the 1993-94 season and he was a tough of a player that there ever was, but his playoff failures that year are similar to JR Smith on a much grander scale. The 1993-94 season was Starks best as a pro, he averaged 19 points and 6 assists a game. In the playoffs though , all his numbers were...

These NBA & NFL Jocks have a reason to be “Cocky;” JR Smith, Serge Ibaka, Larry Fitzgerald & more

Warning, this is not a conversation for under the age of 18 or anyone with tender eyes. KMichelle’s discussion about her love sick “hot pocket” inspired a discussion about JR Smith’s “cockiness.” Considering the popularity of that post. I decided to do an impromptu poll. And by poll I mean I sent out a few text messages and looked back in the email archives to put together...

Melo: “Our offense has been sh*t”

After going down 3-1 and making nice-nice with Tyson Chandler, Carmelo Anthony stopped playing around in his interviews after Game 4 “We haven’t been effective on the offensive end. We’re not making shots. It is what it is.” Dap for stepping up like a man, but I really do feel like the word “Duh” should come after all his quotes lately. Tyson Stirs The Pot Nate’s 0fer

TOK Game Recap – Knicks Season Just About Over

The New York Knicks season was pushed to the brink tonight with another lackluster effort against the Indiana Pacers, as they fell 93-82. Eleven points doesn’t do justice to how one sided this game felt. The Knicks went down immediately and were never really in the game. We’ve seen this movie before. Outside of the 4th quarter in the Game 2, the Knicks have been thoroughly out...

LeBron James-Carmelo Anthony Showdown Enticing, But Pacers Also Present Unique Challenge for Heat (Podcast)

LeBron James is the best basketball player in the world, but that doesn’t necessarily prove that his team is the greatest, too. The Miami Heat haven’t sewn up their title defense quite yet, despite holding a commanding series lead against Nate Robinson and the Chicago Bulls. The Heat’s next test will be a tougher one, and one that should provide many more interesting storylines...

Knicks - Paceers Gamve Five: The Sound Of Losing Money

I won't pretend to care or cover this Pacers - Knicks series too much, because the games and teams just don't do very much for me, but the single salient point that I can make is this: if you like NBA Ref Conspiracy Theories -- and I know many of you do -- saddle up, folks. It's going to get thick. Longer series = more product. Coverage of a Knicks - Heat series, with...
