Adrian Wojnarowski appeared on WEEI Friday to discuss the rampant Boston Celtics trade rumors and fill Boston listeners with oodles of knowledge. During his interview, Wojnarowski declared that the Celtics will only part with Rajon Rondo in return for a superstar — a claim that makes utmost sense due to the fact that Rondo is a 26-year old, three-time All-Star making Brendan Haywood money.

Woj also shared an interesting tidbit about the Los Angeles Lakers: Kobe Bryant would love to play with Rajon Rondo.

One popular rumor had the C’s considering sending Rondo to the Lakers for Pau Gasol.

Said Wojnarowski: “I think that LA certainly wants a point guard, there’s no question. I know Kobe [Bryant] loves Rondo, and he’d love to play with him. I’ve also been told, for all the talk about that Gasol [rumor] … I’ve been told the two teams never ever discussed — LA had never called Boston and they’ve never discussed it. I don’t think it’s anything that’s really based in any reality.”

I hate to admit it, but Kobe’s seal of approval is worth more than almost anybody else’s. He cares only about winning. There’s nothing else on Kobe’s agenda. He just wants to be surrounded by four players who will maximize his chance to take home an NBA title.  So if he says he would like Rondo as a teammate, well, that’s just about the highest compliment a competitor can receive.

Rondo has destroyed a video screen by throwing a water bottle in a fit of rage. He’s undoubtedly done lots of other stupid ****. He can’t shoot. He’s frustratingly inconsistent, at least during the regular season. But he’s also played through pain that would paralyze Vince Carter, occasionally defended Lebron James, who outweighs Rondo by approximately 100 pounds, and led the Celtics within 10 minutes of a title as his team’s best player, spinning a web of triple-doubles along the way. Rondo can be a stubborn asshole, all indications say. But when the lights turn their brightest, he’s a gamer.

Remember when former 49ers coach Mike Singletary went on a legendary rant about Vernon Davis?

“Cannot play with him. Cannot win with him. Cannot coach with him. Can’t do it,” Singletary said.

You can play with Rondo. You can win with him. You can do it. And that’s just part of the ever-confounding Rondo Riddle.

P.S. — Dwight Howard, I hope you agree with Kobe.
