“My hand’s alright. I’ve had the surgery, and I’m just rehabbing right now. The way it happened was a freak accident, it wasn’t an anger play or anything like that. It was just like dang, I messed up, and slapped the wall. I’ll be back on the court by September 1st, and I’ll be 150-percent by the start of the season”.

The latest update on the condition of Kyrie Irving’s right hand is via a Q-and-A with former WFNY scribe and Stepien Rules editor Brendan Bowers. Of course, Irving injured the hand during a summer league practice on July 14 and underwent surgery on July 18.

In the Q-and-A, Irving also discussed whether he thinks the Cavs are a playoff team, how the offseason went overall and if the rest of the team will be ready for Camp Scott (which will be preceded by Camp Kyrie). He also shared his excitement for the addition of forward C.J. Miles and how the overall experience of being a part of the USA Select Team was this summer.

That announced target date certainly is good news for Cavs fans, as the preseason is set to begin October 8 and the regular season tips off October 30 against Washington at the Q.
