Worried Los Angeles Lakers fans can now breathe a temporary sigh of relief after center Dwight Howard led the way in Sunday night’s victory against the abysmal Detroit Pistons. Howard scored 28 points and racked up seven rebounds in LA’s commanding victory. Although there’s positive energy amongst the Lakers, it could be short-lived, with some challenges coming in the following weeks which could raise more question marks. This includes a tough road game against the Utah Jazz, a home game to the Golden State Warriors and a tough test against the San Antonio Spurs. With Steve Nash being out at least a week at point guard, backup Steve Blake will continue to start, as the Lakers ruled out signing another point guard. It’s going to be difficult without Nash, especially if he misses a longer period of time than expected. The greatly hyped team will continue to improve, but don’t expect them to click until later in the season. Some say head coach Mike Brown is preventing the Lakers from succeeding, most would say that’s an understatement, one thing’s for sure, he won’t be the coach once the regular season ends. As long as the core players such as Kobe Bryant and Dwight are playing efficiently, playoffs is a lock. An expected championship? I’m sure most would agree that it’s not looking likely at the moment, but be patient Lakers fans. The post Lakers Destroy Pistons, But the Struggles Aren’t Over Yet appeared first on FootBasket.

Lakers' Howard not a fan of All-Star ballot

Los Angeles Lakers center Dwight Howard sounded off on the new All-Star Game ballot that eliminates the center designation. This season's change has fans voting for three frontcourt players, instead of two forwards and one center. "I don't like it at all," Howard told reporters. "We work just as hard as anybody else. I don't think it's fair to take...

Can Dwight Howard Handle the LA Spotlight?

As I watch the Los Angeles Lakers, I find that their center in Dwight Howard looks increasingly uncomfortable. On one hand, I think his discomfort is more related to trying to find chemistry with his new teammates — NBA future Hall of Famers, Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash. Or it could very possible be because his back is not 100-percent. However, I am more inclined to believe that...

J.J. Redick led the charge...

On paper, the Los Angeles Lakers have one of the best starting line up’s the NBA has ever seen. The Magic: A Team of Believers

Do you believe in the Orlando Magic? Well, a few months ago, almost everyone believed something about this team and it’s that they would be stinking awful. Following the blockbuster trade that sent Dwight Howard to the other side of the states, most of us felt like Orlando’s desperation to get rid of him resulted in a rash move that would end up costing them not only this season...

The last thing the Lakers wanted to hear

It's been rocky start to the 2012-13 NBA season for the Los Angeles Lakers. The team has gone 1-3 to kickoff the season and have looked out of sorts early in the season. And though Dwight Howard finally exploded for 28 points and seven rebounds in LA's first win over Detroit, the team still have to develop chemistry on the court and losing former NBA MVP Steve Nash won&...

Lakers 108, Pistons 79

LOS ANGELES -- The Los Angeles Lakers' fantastic foursome finally had its coming out party. However, it came a few games late, and without a quarter of the star-power. With Steve Nash sidelined due to a non-displaced fracture in his left leg, the other half of the Lakers' offseason haul took over. Center Dwight Howard scored 28 points in Los Angeles' 108-79 win over...

While uncertainty still surrounds the Orlando Magic and Phoenix Suns after major offseason changes, both teams appear to have gained some confidence with wins under their belts. Orlando's season-opening victory, however, came at a cost. Hoping to overcome Hedo Turkoglu's absence, the Magic try for a fourth consecutive win over the visiting Suns on Sunday night. Glen Davis...
