Coveted by the league’s sharpshooters for his uncanny quick release and near-perfect jump shot, Ray Allen remains among the most dependable three-point kings on the court. Before joining the current back-to-back champs Miami Heat and the famed Boston Big Three, Allen led the Seattle Supersonics in the 2005 Western Conference Semi Finals but eventually lost 4-2 against the San Antonio Spurs. Although not exactly the best player to grace the Sonics’ jersey, Allen ranks among the most proficient in scoring, and certainly deserved praise for his contributions to the Seattle franchise. Back then Although Allen’s stint with the Sonics was pretty much disappointing what with all the ankle injuries, his team up back then with another famed sharpshooter Rashard Lewis (who also was a member of the 2013 Heat champions) was among the most entertaining SG-SF trifecta connection of all time. The sharpshooting tandem was not as explosive as the Gary Payton and Shawn Kemp duo but their impact to the fans rekindled the waning love for the sport. Allen also netted his career high with the Sonics franchise, scoring 54 points against the Utah Jazz last January 2007. With Allen’s energy on the court, the basketball fever even spread to plenty of iconic restaurants and establishments in the city like the famed Space Needle. Back then, it wouldn’t be surprising to see homes hosting Sonic-themed parties and bingo nights that may have ranked well with reviews at ballsupbingo. Unfortunately, the team wasn’t kept intact as Allen was traded to the Celtics. Although Seattle earned another key addition to their roster with the top notch small forward Kevin Durant, the Sonic franchise soon met its end and was eventually transferred to the city of Oklahoma. Recently, the city mourned for another loss as the negotiations for the failed Sacramento Kings move to the KeyArena were put to a stop. Despite of the possible longer wait to revive the team, fans of the franchise remain hopeful especially since Chris Hansen, one of the team’s principal investors is still looking for ways to bring back the dormant team to its former glory.
