When Minnesota Timberwolves' Kevin Love isn't stomping on Luis Scola's face and chest, he is a pretty good player. The double-double machine was recently selected to join the 2012 Western Conference All-Star reserves (his second All-Star appearance) but apparently he won't just be taking part in the Sunday big game.

Love (h/t cbssports.com) is reportedly going to take part in the Three-Point Contest on All-Star Saturday night.

"I think I got a good shot at anything I do," Love said, according to the paper. "I’m a pretty competitive guy."

Now the NBA hasn't announced which players will be participating on All-Star Saturday night (Three-Point Contest, Slam Dunk Contest, etc.) but if Love isn't joshing, it would seem an invite was handed his way.

Love, a power forward, wouldn't be a player that automatically jumps in your list of potential players to take part in the shoot out but Love isn't a bad long-distance shooter. This season he is shooting 37.8% and can even knock it down in the clutch.

Just ask the Los Angeles Clippers.

Regardless, having a big name player in this type of fan-favorite event would do wonders for the All-Star Weekend as a whole. Let's face it, some of the top-tier players rarely participate in these festivities like they used to many years ago such as Larry Bird, and Michael Jordan taking part in the Three-Point and Slam Dunk Contest.

And if Love does indeed take part in the shoot-out, hopefully this will spur other big name players to join the fun and bring more excitement to the annual event.
