New York Knicks officials and the casual fan may have had trouble gauging Jeremy Lin's value to the Knicks, but the stock market makes it pretty clear Lin was quite an asset. Since the Knicks declined to match the Rockets offer sheet, letting Lin go to Houston, Madison Square Garden stock has dropped $93 million, according to CNBC sports business reporter Darren Rovell. The rise and fall of MSG's stock has closely followed the rise and fall of Linsanity. When Lin made his first start for the Knicks Feb. 6, MSG shares traded at $29.49. On July 5, the stock had risen more than 30 percent up to $38.80. Since then, as reports that Lin might leave the Knicks increased, shares have dropped to $35.50, an 8.5 percent fall. Because of the luxury tax the Knicks would have had to pay in the third year of Lin's contract if they decided to match the Rockets' offer, it was estimated the Knicks would have had to pay $50 million to retain Lin. That seems like a lot, until...

Knicks fans may need a few days before it officially sinks in, but Jeremy Lin is a Houston Rocket. "Jeremy Lin That I Used To Know" by not Gotye

As you may have heard, Linsanity has moved on. That's right, Jeremy Lin signed an offer sheet with the Houston Rockets -- a big one -- and the New York Knicks failed to match that offer. So all of those Linsanity bandwagon fans will have to ride their wagon all the way to Texas if they want to continue supporting him.  Meanwhile, this ingenius parody of Gotye's Somebody...

Lin-sanity ready for lift off in Houston?

Jeremy Lin took the NBA world by storm in late January and February of this past season. Then he took the NBA world by storm with the contentious restricted free agency that saw him leave The Big Apple for Clutch City (awful memories of 1994 just came rushing back into The Empire State). The debate on whether the Knicks should match the extremely back-loaded contract Daryl Morey...

Maybe We Can Finally Get a Bit Of Lin-Closure

Look, I'm not a Jeremy Lin fan.  That doesn't mean I hate him or that watching him have one of those out-of-the-blue stretches last season wasn't unreal.  I just don't believe in him being a guy that really ... matters.  I'm not on the Money May bandwagon of Lin blowing up because he is Asian.  I will say that his star rose much, much higher because it happened...

Linsanity Back In The News, But Should You Care?

Jeremy Lin is making headlines again as he has switched teams, leaving New York to join Houston. The city of Houston was a ghost town in the 80s following the oil bust and other energy drops, and the Houston Rockets of today are looking to repeat history. The Rockets lost guys like Kyle Lowry, Luis Scola and Goran Dragic and were desperate to reclaim some magic, so they created...

Knicks 'send' former teammate Lin a farewell card

Now that Jeremy Lin will be taking "Lin-sanity" to the Houston Rockets after the New York Knicks decided to not match Houston's offer sheet to Lin, many Knicks fans and media are blasting New York's decision. Large media contingent attends Lin's introductory news conference

More than 150 media members packed the Houston Rockets' practice court to be on hand for the introduction of Jeremy Lin as a member of the Rockets. The Houston Chronicle notes that's more media than attended the introductory press conferences for either Roger Clemens or Andy Pettitte when those two joined the Houston Astros. "I don't see myself as a conquering...

Five for Friday

Five things Im thinking about this weekend while buying up Rockets tickets I can sell online later at an enormous markup. Note: Im not really doing that. 1. Something that seems true (and totally is): The Rockets are aiming for next year to be the big year. It starts with Dwight Howard reportedly saying he wont sign an extension with any team, but it continues with what general...

Video: James Dolan gets owned by 7-year old

With the recent news that the New York Knicks weren’t going to match the Houston Rockets offer to Jeremy Lin of 3-years, $25 million, Knicks fans and children are irate. One of those people is this 7-year old, who by the way, has a pretty good assessment of the Knicks’ President and CEO, James Dolan. Although he mixes up the position of Dolan in the Knicks organization, hats...
