Probably not the worst idea ever assuming Sheridan's report is the one you choose to believe. With this past season feeling like a uber-slow removal of a band-aid that tears out as many arm hairs as possible on its way to exposing the ugly wounds that the Dwight Howard trade saga has inflicted on the Orlando Magic franchise, it just might be time to turn the page completely. Otis Smith and his collection of questionable personnel moves is out already, along with a top-five coach in Stan Van Gundy. Next step for Orlando now, according to Sheridan, is dealing Dwight Howard himself it seems. This report from Chris Sheridan Hoops yesterday: I’ve already told you that Dwight Howard wants out of Orlando, and now I have another piece of info to report. A plugged-in league source tells SheridanHoops.com that the feeling is mutual, and Orlando is prepared to trade him sooner rather than later. The source said that when Magic team president traveled to Michigan last weekend to spea...

Magic reportedly prepared to trade Dwight Howard, will solicit offers after lottery

A report published earlier this week said Dwight Howard badly wants out of Orlando, and it looks like the Magic are ready to grant him his wish. According to Sheridan Hoops, the Magic will be proactive in soliciting deals for Howard after next week’s draft lottery order is determined. Chris Sheridan says Magic owner Rich DeVos decided it was time for the franchise to start fresh...

Will The Magic Really Trade Dwight Howard This Summer?

Four years can be a lifetime in the NBA; as the Orlando Magic can attest to after seeing their fortunes radically altered since they lost to the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2009 NBA Finals. The club that represented the Eastern Conference in the big dance that season is now a team in transition; looking to fill the voids at the General Manager and head coach slots. Former G.M.Otis...

Shaquille O’Neal is reportedly a long way from getting the Magic GM job

Late yesterday ESPN’s Chris Broussard reported that Shaquille O’Neal may meet with the Orlando Magic as early as next week to discuss their GM job. From there Broussard goes on to explain how Howard has been a confidante for Howard and how he and Orlando president Alex Martins have a solid relationship. All in an effort to persuade to pay attention to something that has a minute...

Howard again denies getting Van Gundy fired

Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard said Thursday he did not try to get Stan Van Gundy fired. "I hate see anyone lose their job," Howard told TMZ.com in Beverly Hills, Calif., in his first public comments since Van Gundy was dismissed. The Magic fired Van Gundy and general manager Otis Smith on Monday. It ended a tumultuous season that included a trade demand by Howard...

Report: Shaq, Magic to talk GM job

The Orlando Magic is set to meet with former star Shaquille O'Neal about the team's vacant general manager position next week, ESPN reported Wednesday, citing sources. O'Neal, who spent his first four NBA seasons in Orlando, would be an odd choice, given he has no front-office experience and has had a longstanding feud with Magic superstar Dwight Howard. The 40-year...

Shaquille O’Neal: The Future GM of the Orlando Magic?

It’s interesting how things work. Everything seems to come full-circle more times than not. Shaquille O’Neal was drafted by the Orlando Magic way back in 1992. He spent four very productive years with the Magic before leaving Disney World for Los Angeles. Remember that O’Neal left for more money. Now, it’s reported that he might have an interview for the GM job of the Magic...

Magic take home several awards

Lots of negativity around the Magic (I have some more coming later). Rumors are flying. Everyone is trying to guess who the next coach and GM will be. Everyone is trying to figure out what Orlando is going to do with Dwight Howard. Yeah... we will get to those. We have a whole summer (or until the Draft, if you believe some reports) to deal with that. Here at Orlando Magic Daily...

Report: Shaquille O'Neal...the Big GM (of the Magic)

The Big G.M himself ((ht: espn.com/broussard)) Huh? The master of the mono-syllabic pun running an NBA franchise? Really? Well, according to ESPN.com's Chris Broussard, the Orlando Magic want to meet with former Magic star and current TNT commentator. The reason: Apparently O'Neal has a good relationship with the whiny Dwight Howard and the Magic may believe...

Howard Denies Involvement In Van Gundy's Dismissal

Dwight Howard insists that he had no role in the decision to fire Stan Van Gundy.

Report: Magic to interview Shaq for GM job

According to ESPN, Shaquille O'Neal is on the short list of GM candidates with the Orlando Magic. O'Neal retired after the 2010-11 season and was a studio analyst on TNT's "Inside the NBA" during the 2011-12 season. He began his NBA career with the Orlando Magic in 1992 and played four seasons before joining the Lakers. Beginning with O'Neal, the Magic...

Jeff Van Gundy says it’s ‘absurd’ that the Magic pretend Dwight Howard wasn’t the reason Stan Van Gundy was fired

There are two theories regarding the firing of Stan Van Gundy: the Magic are looking to start fresh, or they know their only chance of keeping Dwight Howard was to fire their head coach. With rumors floating around that the Magic are looking to deal Howard around draft time, the former is a definite possibility. However, Jeff Van Gundy fully believes Howard drove his brother out...

Lakers may have options for improving team

I wrote yesterday about the possibility of Los Angeles Lakers center Andrew Bynum playing somewhere new next year. He clearly isn’t happy in L.A., however with his low level of team dedication, I doubt he’ll be happy anywhere. But hey, a change of scenery couldn’t hurt. This past season, as the trade deadline approached, there were discussions of trading Bynum to Orlando for...

How Could Things Be Worse For The Magic? Hiring Shaquille O’Neal As The GM

Have you heard the one about the superstar free agent center who left his team, citing myriad problems within the organization as well as his desire to leave behind a “small pond” market for stardom, and then spent the next decade constantly ripping that team at any chance he got for no good reason, ultimately focusing on its new superstar center, who admired and idolized him...
