NBA fans have long wanted to see Miami Heat star LeBron James participate in a dunk contest. His recent propensity for throwing down wicked slams during pregame warmups has only helped fuel that desire. Now, fans apparently aren't the only ones who really want to see what King James can do in the dunk competition. NBA legend and current ESPN analyst Magic Johnson wants in on the campaign as well.Johnson went on the record on national television by stating that he would offer James $1 million to try his hand at winning the slam dunk contest. Johnson then appeared to back off his offer a little bit by saying that he would give $1 million to the winner, instead.Nonetheless, James would end up pocketing the cash if he decided he wanted in on the deal. Because who really stands a chance at competing with this?

  • Lebron James is not desparate for magic's money, and if magic just wanted to give away 1 million, I know a lot of needy people who can use the money inclding myself. I grew up in the MJ, Magic, Bird era, and the only one I still have respect for is Bird, because he respected the game then, and he also recognizes his time has past and he has past the baton to the new generation, unlike Magic and MJ, who are haters of the younger generation and don't respect these young men, but want them to respect them. I would say the players of the game today still respect their eldersssssssssssss and ignore them. Lebron, keep doing you, you are BLESSED.

    Update: March 02, 2013
Lebron ignore them, keep doing you, you are truly BLESSED...
  • Exactly.
  • "There's no business like show business. . .
There's no people like show people, they smile when they are low Angels come from everywhere with lots of jack, and when you lose it, there's no attack Where could you get money that you don't give back? let's go on with the show "
  • Let me see if i got this coerrect,, Magic Johnson offer's a mil
to the winner of a dunk contest, The Fans, and Television pay for the event, a thousand hungry family, who can't afford the event, never mind the cable bill,or a tv to view it, and the
millionaire player gets another mil in bank book....is that
about right...Your a insensitive dumbass, Mr. Johnson, bless you
  • Waaah waaaah! There is nothing insenstive about someone spending their money as they want, just because YOU are worthless to society and have none. IT is nt MAgic's fault you wasted your life.
  • stop being a hater Magic is a business man which I give much respect to .... let him decide what he wants to do with his money.. Would you like someone telling you what to do with your money. This is a free country
  • MR.JOHNSON, MAY I PLEASE HAVE $2000 OF THAT $1MILLION TO PAY OFF MY CAR NOTE?? I REALLY NEED IT! I'M SURE THE CONTEST PLAYERS WOULDN'T MIND. SINCE SOME OF THEM HAVE ABOUT 3 OR MORE CARS AND TRUCKS AND MAYBE EVEN PLANES THAT ARE PAID IN FULL. I WOULD REALLY BE THANKFUL IF YOU COULD HELP AND SO WOULD MY MOM.

    THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS
  • I know right i need one hundred thousand to pay off my car my house my daughter,s college and have some free shopping money..
  • who the hell cares about this crap
  • Y'all can get off your high horses about what Magic does with his $1 mil. He does more work for people in need in ONE WEEK than what all of us here combined do in OUR LIFETIMES. So think before you post some of the dumbest comments ever posted!

If you're needy, go earn your keep and stop asking for handouts. damn, people like you make me wish i never voted for our current President in '08 & '12.
  • Thank you. At least one intelligent comment.
  • what the HELL ......Mr. PRESIDENT has nothing to do with this Wow.thanks for your vote.
  • If magic wants to put his money to good use he should clean up his park here in south central that is built on toxic land on Avalon and Elsegundo
  • I'm sorry - Magic? Why not donate that kind of money to a charity - my goodness - What are you accomplishing by that - that's so sad and wasteful!
  • I'm a Huge magic Fan, always have been. I hink he has done a tone of good things for people, BUT Do you know how much good that 1 mil would do in the community. How about Michigan where he played College ball. Alot of people in the community where the Lakers are and In Detroit, struggle to eat everyday! Put that in perspective. I know it's his money, he has earned it. The only cool thing would be is that Lebron would step up and donate the 1 Mil. Think of all of the families that go hungry everyday!
  • Please give the money to charity,if not please send me enough to pay off something!
  • Magic, Please give the money as matching funds to support our innovative, empowering, successful preschool program so that we may serve more children. Contact at info@srafw.org
