Here’s part of my afternoon Twitter exchange with Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix.
I’m intrigued by this deal. Pau Gasol would be a huge help to Kevin Garnett, the Celtics jump shot centric offense and (lack of ) rebounding.
I’d hate to give up a decade of Avery Bradley for 3 years of Gasol. And a move like this is extremely short-sighted. But I really believe Gasol could be the key to winning another championship this season.
Gasol returned to action this week after missing 8 games due to tendinitis in both knees, injuries that don’t appear serious. Gasol isn’t meshing with Mike D’Antoni and his new system. The two met this week to iron out their differences.
I’m sure the Lakers want to see how Gasol fits in the offense once Steve Nash returns, and the Celtics are also eagerly awaiting the return of Bradley and his defensive pressure. If both teams are still struggling by February, a deal like this might gain some traction.
FYI – The Celtics can’t trade Jeff Green until mid-Janua...
BEST OF MAXIM
Well this is a good thing. Per the Celts official twitter:
Doc: "Avery had a practice the other day in Chicago and half the team was asking, 'Why is he not playing tomorrow?' He was that good."

On the surface it seems crazy that a guy who averaged 7.6 points, 1.8 boards and 1.6 assists in 21 minutes a game last season...
After he sustained three chipped teeth from an Ilyasova elbow last Friday, there's no question about what Jeff Green wants for Christmas. :-)
Happy Holidays everyone!

Avery Bradley was first cleared to practice with the team in Chicago. Bradley had already been playing one-on-one with former Celtic Keyon Dooling who is now the player development coach. He has also had coaches set screens on him which forced him to fight through the screens to test his shoulders.
He had a good practice and afterwards had no setbacks or pain in his surgically...
Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.
Celtics forward Jeff Green sustained a bruised left cheek and chipped multiple teeth after absorbing a stray elbow from Milwaukee’s Ersan Ilyasova in the final moments of overtime in the Bucks’ 99-94 triumph...
And they talked and they talked.
Now, this is good for Lakers fans because it seems to have brought forth a resolution for the lack of chemistry that is on the court for LA’s bigs. Rumor has it that Coach D has vowed to no longer bench Gasol during crucial minutes at the end of games. Which was a huge problem for the Spanish post man. He has also made it clear he’s...
Pau Gasol and Mike D'Antoni met on Wednesday evening at a Manhattan Beach restaurant to discuss their differences.
Los Angeles Lakers point guard Steve Nash looked like his old self as he made his return to the court for Saturday's NBA game against the Golden State Warriors.
It was Nash's first game back since being injured in the second game of the season. Nash scored 12 points and had 9 assists, including some nice alley-oop passes to teammates Pau Gasol and Kobe Bryant.

According to multiple reports, the Boston Celtics have signed center Jarvis Varnado of the Sioux Falls NBA D-League team.

As you might expect, Tommy had a rough night with the officiating as bad as it was in this game. I mean what happened to home cooking? Tommy was quiet for a bit after Ilyasova's elbow to Green's head was ignored and my hubby said that poor Tommy was probably on a respirator after that egregious no call. Here's tonight's Best of Tommy and there's lots of good...
Los Angeles Lakers guard Steve Nash started Saturday night in the Lakers' 118-115 overtime victory over the Golden State Warriors after missing 24 games because of a small fracture in his lower left leg.
Nash played 41 minutes and shot 5 of 8 for 12 points with nine assists. The two-time MVP was injured Oct. 31 against Portland.
Coach Mike D'Antoni told the media before...
The 2012 Los Angeles Lakers are clearly the biggest disappointment so far in the NBA. They should be getting some help with point guard Steve Nash returning from injury. Nash has only played 2 games with the Lakers and that was with ex-coach Mike Brown.
Nash is expected to play on Christmas day according to Mark Medina of the Daily News.
There’s probably a low chance tomorrow...
The Bucks did what they had to to win but I'm convinced after watching this again that many of the missed shots were due to fouls not being called on the Bucks. Yes there were open misses but there were also 3 KG layups that missed because he was hacked on the arm. The officials were terrible and it culminated in Jeff Green bleeding on the floor while play went on and the Bucks...
The Los Angeles Lakers got Pau Gasol back this week and they were hoping to get Steve Nash back as well. Nash's return is coming, but he may not be ready this week. The Lakers point guard has been participating in full-contact practices, but he may not be ready to go Saturday. Mark Medina of the Daily News said Nash will be iffy for today's game, but he will be ready to go...
The Boston Celtics announced today that they have recalled F Kris Joseph from their NBA Development League affiliate, the Maine Red Claws.

The Celtics have once again recalled Kris Joseph from their D-League affiliate Red Claws. They certainly are using the new unlimited recall rules this year to their advantage. Since I haven'...
