The Memphis Grizzlies are a half game behind the Portland Trailblazers for the eight seat on the playoff tree. Instead of heading into the second half of the season with a .500 team, the Grizzlies are making moves to improve their chances of making the playoffs for the first time since the 2005-06 season.
35-year old Jason Williams has signed with the Grizzlies to be the only other point guard on the Grizzlies roster besides Mike Conley, I don’t count Greivis Vasquez. He will bring some veteran leadership to the second team and knock down the occasional three-pointer.
Willimas was waived by the Orlando Magic Jan. 26 because he was knocked down to fourth on the depth chart behind Jameer Nelson, Gilbert Arenas and Chris Duhon.
This is a smart move for the Grizzlies for this year, but after the season is over, there will be a more attractive piece in the second round of the draft or in free agency. Williams was never a top notch point guard because he doesn’t always make th...
