Memphis head coach Josh Pastner has announced the decision to hire former Arizona and NBA star Damon Stoudamire to his staff.

With two open positions, Pastner is looking for replacements. Less than one week after interviewing Stoudamire, he named the former NBA Rookie-of-the-Year to one of them.

Stoudamire, who was a star at Arizona back in the 90s, wrapped up a 13-year career at the professional level in 2008. Following his retirement, Stoudamire held a brief position as the director of player development at Rice University.

Stoudamire has been an assistant coach with the Memphis Grizzlies since 2009.

Pastner has been looking to rebuild his staffs after two of his assistant coaches left for coaching gigs elsewhere.

Willis Wilson was named the head coach at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, while Glynn Cyprien has joined newly appointed Texas A&M head coach Billy Kennedy in College Station.

With Stoudamire, Pastner still will be search of one, final replacement to complete his staff for the 2011-2012 season.

According to the Memphis Commercial Appeal, a formal introduction is expected by the University of Memphis at 2:00PM on Tuesday afternoon.
