Yesterday, I wrote that the best option for the Rondo-less Celtics would be to have Paul Pierce play the point forward and let Bradley and the backup of Doc Rivers' choice play in more off-the-ball scenarios, which wouldn't put a ton of added pressure on them. Apparently, Doc feels that Pietrus' game best suits that scenario.

Maybe Doc feels that Pietrus can bring some defensive intensity to the game right out of the gate so that Atlanta doesn't come out like they did on Sunday and shoot lights out, burying the Celtics in the process. The issue with Pietrus is that he's as streaky as they come. If he's on, then it's fantastic. If he's off, then forget about it. Then again, the problem with Doc's other options (Dooling, Pavlovic, Daniels, Moore) is that they're just as streaky.

As for Ray Allen, you can probably take "game-time decision" to translate as "you have a better chance of seeing Larry Bird walk through that door than you have of seeing Ray Allen take the floor tonight." My faith in seeing Ray suit up at some point during this postseason is dwindling with each passing moment. There doesn't seem to be a ton of confidence coming out of the Celtics camp that he's nearing a return, so I'm just assuming that Boston's planning on playing without him for the rest of the season. If Ray does manage to come back, it'll be an added bonus.
