Things just keep getting worse for former NBA MVP Allen Iverson. After turning down an opportunity to play in the NBA Developmental League (NBDL) and a shot at reviving his career, Iverson has also lost his $4.5 million Atlanta home due to defaulting on his mortgage, TMZ reports.

TMZ broke the story … Iverson allegedly defaulted on a $1.2 million mortgage which sent the $4.5 million home into foreclosure. He briefly fought off an auction … but ultimately, he couldn’t stop it.

Sources close to the sale tell TMZ … Iverson’s bank purchased the mansion yesterday for $2.5 million.

Adding more insult to injury, Iverson also was labeled a drunk and a terrible father by the judge presiding over his divorce case. Ouch.

AI might want to reconsider that D-League offer, if for no other reason than to save face. He’s taking a major hit in the media these days.

  • Look out, this guy may blow; and you know he has an arsenal stashed somewhere.
  • That's why I dont ride wit ya'll.... when a brother is loved by mainstream ya'll ride his jimmy, as soon as the media turns on a black guy, yall turn on him like yall never liked him @ all..
These udmb ass black celebreties better wake up to the real Amerikkka.....
  • Hey, at least he had it for a while and if he gets his act together, he may rebound. Black, white, yellow or red, the public loves to tear down their idols when they make a mistake. Get off the racial bit brother and see life as it is.
  • here we go again the ass made millions, and blew it all to hell, now germs like you want us to feel sorry for that sorry ass who had it all.
  • I agree all the way.
  • amen !!!!
  • I don't think you guys have a clue about AIs finances. If you did your homework you would know he's far from broke.
  • Had to go racial..... sad really. That excuse is old. The media don't give a crap what color you are but if it is a person of color, that's where it always goes. Get over it and quit using the excuse cuz the only people that use that lame excuse anymore are the users of this world.
  • Never liked him, never rode his jimmy, and it couldn't happen to a more deserving candidate.
  • A dumb ass yard ape by any other name is still a dumb ass yard ape. Money don't change dumb or ghetto. He was ghetto rich for a while, but par for course, he drugged, drank, and blew millions. Bottom line--he is still a dumb ass ghetto monkey
  • First of all don't refer to a black man as a Monkey. What the hell is your problem? You are ignorant and rude. Get a life!
  • You know that when you take the hair off of the monkey that the bitch is white so you are really talking about your self! and so what if he lost or gain whatever it was him that made his money and it will still be him if he loose it his body not anyone elses you don't have to live it him.and as far as the judge that said he was a drunk and bad father they more than likely are too!!! can't judge unless you are there or been there.
  • While I can certainly understand some of your sentiments, why is he a "monkey"? I mean, i've seen Iverson a many men of color and I don't recall any of them even remotely resemblinga "monkey". these people, like them or not, are humanbeings, just as you claim to be. with that being said, are you also to be classified as a "monkey"? if not, then where do you get off thinking you are so high and mighty as to be able to label someone a "monkey". Only one deity has that type of power and you my friend are not a deity...not even remotely close to one!
  • People! People! My People. The only way to deal effectively with trailer park trash is to ignore it! Try it. Take a deep breath. Smell it?
  • I agree with leelanau. I had to wacth this guy hog the ball for 9-10 yrs with the Sixers. Alot of people would say he's great because he led the league in scoring a couple of times. He also took 30-35 shots a game. Maybe he should ask his posse for some money.
  • Well he did take them to a finals after all.
  • How many finals would they have made if he was the only player on the floor, you morons have to realize that it takes at least five players to win a game.
  • You're just repeating what was written/said by the media. He never took his team to the finals. He never played defense, rebounded, or set his teammates up. These are all things a guard should do to lead his team to the finals. All Allan did was shoot and shoot some more. That Sixers team that went to the final had several players who had "career years" and an Eastern Conference that was weak. They won in spite of Iverson, not because of him. And tell me this, who went to the line and bricked two free throws when the team had the chance to go up 2-0 on the Lakers? That would have been AI.
  • You have somewhat of a point, I kind of agree with you and don't at the same time. Just last week Amerikkka as you call it, found out Dan the Man Marino, had a love child. I remember not to long ago the world casting their hate towards a guy by the name of Tiger Woods. Dan the Man Marino gets busted and the response is oh "who care"
  • Once a bum always a bum. All he had to do is not mimick the other A**H*les. U know break the cycle. It's the same old story. Don't you get tired of it. How about this maybe he should have taken that 4.5 bought the equivalent in Bershire Stock (Brk.b) and live modestly. Break the chain!
  • Being a white person, as much as i'd like to say "don't play the race card," that statment has a lot of truth to it. Once the media turns on black celebs, public opinion always follows. Out of the thousands of black athletes & celebrities, I can't even think of one example where that hasn't happened. Can anyone else? With white celebs I can think of plenty times the media went against them, but their popularity kept growing: Eminem, Woody Allen, Charlie Sheen, madonna, etc. Maybe you could say Mahammud Ali or Charles Barkley, but even in those cases, the media never turned on them, they where just amused and sometimes annoyed by them
  • Ill give you one Lance Armstrong- and to keep it equal- Jose Conseco
  • I totally agree with you bobby23. It is about color and always will be. Scary!
  • A loser is a loser no matter the color- Iverson made poor choices like we all have
  • are you serious? Or are you from the 1940's. I see you are just like a typical non-accountable black guy. Everything is great, plenty money, plenty endorsements, plenty white chicks, big houses, big possee, nice clothes, alot of bling! But as soon as you yourself destroys it, you blame the white man and kkk. Yes, I seen the grammar school play on words you made. hahahahahahahahhaah
  • Why do you have pull the race card right away.Is that the way you were brought up to always use that as a crutch for your own lack of ambitions or attempt to acomplish anything in life or to make your life better. Theres another article about a white celebrity called Lindsay Lohan who's losing her house and is broke ;I dont see anyone making any remarks about her color.I have so much respect for many ; many athletes of color that I would hope my kids rivaled their character and not just their sports abilities. Its your own racism uncleBIGface you need to look at!
  • i love it when these idiots lose it all !!! im laughing my ass off. maybe these gangster thug wanna bes' should have spent more time living life right, instead of blowing evrything !!! too funny !!!!
  • Black guys seem to have no trouble turning on themselves. First a mansion, then an Escalde with 100 grand worth of "bling" attached, then an entourage of 50 useless hangers on he has to support, then a trophy blond wife and a half donzen mulato kids with other blonds he isn't married to and a couple dozen black kids with black hanger on bimbos. All that bs costs millions, then when things turn south it's booze and drugs. Yeah the media causes it. Like the media causes bad weather right?
  • That is the most ignorant thing I've ever heard. He drank and gambled away 100 million dollars, no one should feel sorry for him. This has nothing to do with race. Just because you are racist doesn't mean everyone else is.
  • Yep AmeriKKKa right ...The KKK is all Democrats and Martin Luther King was a Republican . A Republican President Northern whites and freed Black men fought a Civil War to end Slavery . Meanwhile DEM congressmen were lybching Blacks in NYC . The Republicans passed Emancipation and voting righs while the DEMs fough it . If you are going to throw the angry black man and everyone is racist , and imply whites are racist at least get some perspective . It is not racit to call Iverson a punk and a thug . He is jut a gang banger who once could ball . His Immaturity and thug life have brought him down faster then his posse could . Why do Liberals play the race card anytime someone criticizes someone of color . That is BS . We need to be able to call ot what it is in this country and stop sugar coating or making excuses for black men who dont take care of their kids or their responsibilities . When they act like the thugs that they grew up as.. no one should be surprised . Maybe if they werent being raised by single mothers in Democrat supplied entitlement states they wouldnt act the fool
  • Well if you knew him like I knew him don't count on it... He always blew money like water... He paid all his momma's bills throughout the years and partied everywhere out the ass. He was always so busy taking care of his "posse" that he didn't worry about a rainy day... He would drink dirty dog's like water and opened a club in Hampton, VA that went belly up too. Some of his friends from his days in high school when he was "bubba" still have not worked from till this day. So I say ha ha.. I took his money to and ran and you know what I still have a roof over my head.
  • another stand up athlete role model.
  • Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!
  • I agree with Minihaha aha! Hehehe HO HO ho ho bzzzaaaaarrrttt
  • Yes Iverson has obviously made some very poor decisions, but I have to defend him and say he has one baby mama as you call it. His ex-wife is the mother of all 5 of his children.
  • As far as you know!!!!!!
  • You sound like the typical fan,who is jealous and laughs at this talented brothers demise, because of his problems. Most people always looking for someone else to stand on, to make them feel better about their poor lifestyle. Those baby mamas knew he was a ladies man, they just wanted a big child support meal ticket check, so they don't have to work.
  • Iverson only has 1 babys momma since ignorant people like to make fun of the African American players and children. That woman was his wife and all of his childrens is by that woman his ex wife.
  • A.I. is his own worst enemy. He was a pretty talented athlete, but as someone said earlier, he was a ballhog!! His shooting percentage was not very good. He walked around with a chip on his shoulder and had a huge 'tude' all the time! He even had that attitude with the press and when you do that you had better stay pretty straight, because if you stumble they will be all over you!! Magic Johnson is a good example of this! Magic was alway cordial with the press and even though his problems resulted in AIDS, the press gave him a pretty fair shake! Some of his own 'brother' players gave him the most grief....not wanting to play on the floor when he was playing, etc!! Another black guy that was always cordial with the press was Michael Jordon! He's had his family problems and is now divorced, but the press didn't rip him or give him a lot of grief.......I never particularly liked Jordon, but I'll sure give him his due.....I would say, maybe arguably, that he is the all time greatest basketball player I ever saw play the game......he had all the tools! I loved Larry Bird, too, but more because he was just the opposite of Jordon. He had way less 'tools' but he had a head full of smarts that lifted him over most all of his rivals and way more than compensated for his 'white men can't jump' syndrome, and his lack of all out speed!! Sorry to ramble...just a white guy here that appreciates talent! Couldn't care less about the color of their skin....if they run their mouth and act like a jerk and get their hand called for it, so be it! As my Dad used to say about people being irresponsible and not doing the right things....."Your chickens will come home to roost!". A.I.'s chickens are coming home to roost!!! How sad!!!
  • Amen bobfost! You said a mouth full.
  • Its Larry Brown's fault,Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha1 Ha! Ha! Ha!
  • Another one bites da dust. Next up? Getting caught sellin' drugs or other illict behavior. Yeah the role models/heroes of today. No wonder our young people are going to hell in a handbasket.

  • What are you doing to be of service to young people? These basketball, football and other players did not sign up to be models/heroes, we put that label on them.
  • God gifted them with great talent and they are a roll model whether they like it or not!! Step up....Man up and use your head for more than a hat rack!!!!
  • I agree with you, we need to stop. These are at work that's all, it just so happens they work in the public view, but God only knows what happen at your house dispite the position you hold at the office. None of us are perfect. Most of us can't handle large sums of money. We dont have half there check and still might something not needed. Im saving for a house,South African Vacation,And student Loans. But I still get my hair done and buy a purse if I feel Like it. So they are just doing on a bigger scale. Be more forgiving people, and stop making average men Idols. They are Famous not Angels.
  • deadbeat dad and blowing millions of dollars?...whats the story? 76% of them are deadbeats and most of them blow their fortunes...tell us something we dont already know and expect.
  • Them "see" what I mean "them" you probably got cut from every team you ever tryed out for too looser....
  • maybe, but I bet he still has his house
  • Pretty sure Iverson has homes.
  • once a thug always a thug, Just like his buddy Mick vick!

  • It's spelled "loser," loser....
  • If you're going to correct someone's spelling, you might want to understand "loser" is NOT spelled "l-o-o-s-e-r".
  • It's spelled "loser," loser...

  • If you don't have anything good to say, don't say anything.
  • f###K off!
  • This is sad. He has children. Regardless of what is happening
with his soon to be exwife, he is not broke. Sometime we do mean things to spite the other person without any regard to the children who are at stake. This is not a laughing matter. It could happen to you.
  • Are we supposed to feel sorry for him? He made millions and he should have saved some for the future but this is what they do, spend, spend, spend, and then it's gone! Sorry but there is no sympathy here!
  • Spend spend spend, sounds just like the Government, we may all end up in this boat!
  • nobody said anything about felling sorry for him you said that youre just reponding to something that you read in yardbarker.
  • No,but kicking a man when he's down... does not help the situation.
  • Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy....
  • We're talking about PRACTICE!. Maybe he should've practiced saving some money. Another typical bum athlete that blew all his money on crap. Why do these guys need to have mortgages on their homes? If I had the kind of money he earned I would've just paid cash. If he goes broke, which was inevitable because he's an idiot, you could just sell the house and pocket two or three million. Loser!
  • hey johnnyb29 if your on yardbarker making comments like that about people you probaly never met, you are just as much of a bum as you described, bet you dont even own your own home, listen man we only go by what we hear and not what we know,be an positive speaker and not negative one.
  • I never understood why these people dont pay cash for homes and cars....a multi millionaire should not be getting stuff repoed.. these guys get all kinds of bonus checks and endorsements also..buy your toys with that money...Grown men should not be blowing there money on other men,(their boys as they call them) and tricks (women that dont give a damn about you).
  • Plus $860,000 you owed a jewelry store. Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!
  • I wonder if he gave anything to the poor while he was in the money, hmm, probably not. life seems to be a series of steps and on this step he is broke. Reality will set in soon, soup kitchen is also a step.
  • I happen to be from Philly and a close friend of one of his former personal assistants. He was actually very generous. He gave to numerous charities, sponsored a number of charity events, and would give turkeys to poor families during the holidays. He may have not been very wise with the way he managed his finances but numerous people have been the beneficiaries of his wealth. I dont think that anyone should be passing judgement on him or anyone else for that matter. After all, the last perfect person to walk this earth was hung between two thieves! Spread love, not hate!!!
  • Mortgage...are we talking about a mortgage?
  • It Look like hee going back to da hood!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • hey, sounds like he netted $1.3 M. Must be a party someplace.
  • We all make mistakes.I hate this happen to him,we are not perfect.AI you hold your head up and repent and give your life to GOD. "Put it all in his hands".
  • Well, another narcissistic jock bites the dust. These people never learn that fame is fleeting, you need to be nice to people, and you need to save for a rainy day. Now, it's time to work for the car wash and sleep in a cardboard box.
  • Why would anyone laugh at this story? We all make mistakes in our life. Doesn't matter if we make $100 a week or a $1,000,000.It certainly doesn't matter what color we are. God deals with everyone the same. My thought is about the story of pointing out the piece of wood in someone's eye, when you have a whole plank in your own. I will pray for Allen that he accepts the lord in his life and gets his life together.
  • well u know all people make mistakes at some point in life but for AI to turn down so many offers to pull his family out of this is just stupid still i wish the best for him and his kids and maybe the x too
  • ....And this is not PRACTICE!!!!! It's for REAL AI (Artificial Intelligence???) I mean no intelligence!!!! This happens to most lottery winners and pro athletes. They buy a 5 million dollar house and don't understand how much it cost to keep a house. "Oh, you mean I have to pay taxes on my house?" DUH!!!!!
  • he could be considered 'stimulus'. run a bunch of money thru him, and he will get it out into the economy.

obama should give him more to spread around.
  • Maybe you should have taken advantage of the additional grant money President Obama made available for a college education prior to making a comment like that.
  • Why all the racist remarks? This has nothing to do with race (nor do the comments about Lance Armstrong). This has to do with a person who had no respect for authority, who thought he was above his team mates, who thought the gravy train would never end. He had a chance for a valuable degree at a very presitgous univeristy (Georgetown). Instead, he rightfully parlayed his one season under a very smart man (John Thompson) into millions upon millions with the NBA. Unfortunately, in his one year at Georgetown, he obviously didn't learn the value of money, putting away for a rainy day, or respect for others. I personally loved the basketball player Allen Iverson. I didn't like the antics (practice, your talkin' bout practice) or the attitude (I don't come off anyone's bench, I'm a starter). In the end, he became his worst enemy. That in itself is not being racist, its stating the obvious, similarly as I critisize Lance Armstrong for his stupidity.
  • Well said sir
  • People are fed up with KNEE-GROWS
  • You got to be kidding, can only imagine what you are like with a remark like that.
  • 0ok0okmonkey hey bring your ass to dc in will show you what a f@#$%^& porch monkey looks like you sorry sack of s@#$ come to S.E D.C Baryy Farms and talk that racist s@#$ you BUMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • thompson rescued him out of hampton, virginia, in what is still thought to be a shady deal, he should have done his time for his crime at that time and he might have learned a heck of a lot more than he learned at Georgetown taking underwater basket weaving classes so he could play basketball.
  • i do not feel sorry for him....what a stupid ass and he played in philly on top of that.
  • see ya bum
  • UncleBIGFace....no one is kicking the black guy down, you just assume we are. So quit with the racial remarks. We are laughing that these big time players make the stupid decisions of showing off their wealth to everyone. And then fall down on their faces when their world crumbles down. That's funny in itself!!
mljose, we didnt give them these labels of heroes. So think before making a fool of yourself. :)
uncleBIGface...it's tried, not tryed. and it's loser, not looser. another person who needs to think before speaking. :)
  • I dont think these athletes are any different from others who are wealthy. It's not about "showing off their wealth". Would you say that about Jay Leno who owns about 190 vehicles. I think it's unfair to say they are showing off just because they can actually afford to buy what some can only dream of buying. I'm sure if you had millions of dollars you would drive a Bentley instead of a tricked out Honda or Toyota.
  • Who gives a ****
  • The person that wrote this story doesn't actually want me to feel sorry for him, do they ? Good luck with that.
  • Hey cozytrash, get off your racial wagon! Seems the last time I saw and NBA game most all players were black and dam good! If this was a white guy and he blew through his millions and went into forclosure on his 4.5 mil mansion the media would be on him just the same.
It comes down to the simple fact that we live in an imperfect world. We all have problems. Financial or otherwise. The media, sometimes hard-up for news, will write a story on this unimportant trash. Too bad but it happens. Free speech, you know. ~ oldfart835
  • To all the negative people the wrote negative comments be careful what you say about someone you don't know what tomorrow holds for you. If you had God in your life you would watch what you say about others. It sounds like you need prayers as well, my advice to all the negative LOVE yourself and worry about what's going on with you. You don't really know what's going on with him just what you hear and read about. NOW YOU GET IT TOGETHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • PRACTICE?!?!?!?!??!
  • I find that the people wear their hat sideways and pants on the ground are usually not smart enough to manage their money. It basic stuff, a person must make the payments to keep the stuff they have financed.
  • What I dont understand is, These guys make multiple, multiple millions of dollars. Why the hell wouldnt they just drop the cash down and payoff the house to begin with. Makes no sense to me.
  • WHATEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
  • OK....HE IS NOT THE FIRST PERSON TO LOOSE A HOME>>>>>KEEP IT MOVING
