With the diverse array of remarkable athletes currently playing in the NBA, it’s an extremely common occurrence to see or hear about players rising up over the defense to finish a dunk or a layup.  Sometimes, a guy will even leap right over a defender’s head, as LeBron James did to John Lucas III just last season.  Just how frequently, though, do you catch a ball handler ducking low and running underneath an airborne defender?  Has that ever happened?  Well, if it hadn’t before, it has now.  As you can see, Nate Robinson literally did exactly that to Sebastian Telfair as the Bulls beat the Suns on Wednesday night. I originally saw this play more than 12 hours ago and I remain completely fascinated.  It’s like an inverse poster dunk.  From now on, I propose that we refer to such plays as getting “submarined.”  Not that it’ll ever happen again, but just in case.
