Stop snitching! That’s apparently what the NBA felt when they handed Hawks GM Danny Ferry with a $15,000 fined. Rajon Rondo was suspended one game for making contact with a referee during the Atlanta Hawk matchup on Monday night. However, Rajon Rondo wasn’t hit with a technical or even a foul during the incident. It’s unclear if the ref didn’t feel the contact or didn’t see it as intentional, but whatever the reason he was not punished for the incident until the following day.
Why you asked?
According to ESPN, Ferry was fined for inappropriate interaction with the game officials. Ferry decided to hand over a DVD of Rondo bumping Mott after the game. Players and team personal are prohibited from approaching game officials, which is why the league had to fine Ferry as well. I’m sure $15,000 is chump change to a GM, but I guess after seeing the Celtics go on a 19 point lead to squeeze out the victory against the Hawks any blow to the organization is a victory in his eyes.
BEST OF MAXIM
Hawks general manager Danny Ferry was fined $15,000 by the NBA Monday for ‘inappropriate interaction’ with the game officials following Saturday’s loss to the Celtics at Philips Arena.
The league did not reveal the reason for the penalty.
According to a person familiar with the situation, Ferry handed game officials a DVD following the 98-91 loss to the Celtics at Philips...
So Hawks GM Danny Ferry supposedly snitched and submitted video to the NBA showing Rondo barely nudging a referee in the C's encounter with Atlanta last weekend - which led to Rondo's suspension this evening. Well, if belatedly showing evidence to the NBA is the trend now, well we've got some to share as well - like this little ditty from the early 2000s (Ferry'...
Danny Ferry was fined $15,000 for inappropriate interaction with officials after Saturday's game.
Before last night's bench-inspired win over Phoenix, Rajon Rondo had some things to say about his suspension and the KG/Carmelo/breakfast cereal incident:
Oh man, I get suspended for a phone hang-up and people just get away with anything in this league. Oh my goodness, so that’s the same thing, huh?
That's in regards to hearing Carmelo Anthony also got a 1 game suspension...
Is Rondo getting some home-court advantage with his numbers?
An interesting post on Sunday from Hoopdata’s Blake Murphy discussing whether or not players get added benefits when it comes to the scoring of assists when the player is at home.
The assist, more than any other statistic in sports besides the lacrosse assist and the baseball error, is most affected by how the scorer...
BOSTON — Rajon Rondo is not one to mask his emotions, so he did not try to hide how perturbed he was when he was told Wednesday about the length of Carmelo Anthony‘s suspension.
As Rondo prepared to make his return from a one-game suspension for bumping a referee and then, in the league’s words, “failing to cooperate with a league investigation,” he was informed that the...
Celtics’ point guard, Rajon Rondo, has been suspended 1 game for making contact with a game official against the Atlanta Hawks and failure to cooperate with a league investigation.
Rondo can be seen bumping his chest into the official after an offensive foul was called on him late in the third quarter of Saturday’s game.
He will not play Monday night in New York. Video of the...
Carmelo Anthony has been suspended one game for waiting outside the Celtics' locker room and bus to confront Kevin Garnett after Monday's game in New York. The scuttlebutt around was that KG had made a comment about Melo's wife concerning Honey Nut Cheereos. But KG has denied trash talking LaLa and said that his comments were basketball related.
Rondo, witty as always...
Since training camp began, the Celtics have been trying to convince everybody of three things.
First, that they are a deep team filled with talented, yet willing, role players who can defend like demons and compete with the top teams in the Eastern Conference. Second, that Jeff Green could be a difference-making factor in big games. And third, that they can only go as far as Rajon...
On Wednesday night the Celtics returned home to open up their first of five home games. The Phoenix Suns were in town to avoid going 0-11 in their last away games. While the Celtics looked to continue their win streak to four games coming off a huge win against the Knicks. Rajon Rondo is back from his one game suspension and looked to led the team again. In a great team performance...
Celtics fans cannot seem to get DeMarcus Cousins off their minds, no matter how dead that trade rumor might be. The salary complications and Cousins’ behavioral issues have been debated ad nauseam, so it is not worth going into those massive obstacles any further.
One thing that has been repeated so often in the last few weeks, to the point that it has almost been accepted as fact...
