After failing to obtain a deal on Josh Smith or the rights to JJ Redick the Philadelphia 76ers decided not to settle and picked up a player during the fiasco involving the trade deadline.
The Sixers obtain Charles Jenkins, a guard from the Golden State Warriors, who's contract is worth $762,195. Jenkins' playing time became sparse after the Warriors signed Jarret Jack during the 2012 offseason.
The 23-year-old guard from Hofstra averaged 5.8 points and 3.3 assists during his rookie campaign. Jenkins is now averaging 1.7 points per game in only six minutes a night.
Will the 76ers bring the young prospect into a bigger role in the City of Brotherly Love? Absolutely not, but this does finally address the guard issues the Sixers have been dealing with for quite some time. This now gives the Sixers four point guards on the roster including Royal Ivey, Pargo, and Jrue Holiday.
