9. Gerald Green First on the list is Green. He completed a windmill alley-oop in a real game and blew out a candle in a dunk contest. He is a highlight reel. There were many players considered for this last spot but I couldn’t keep Green out of the Top 9 after watching his highlights. Click here to view the video on YouTube. 8. DeMar DeRozan Next is DeRozan. He is typically known for being a good dunker. He has finished in second and third in two dunk contest appearances. He lost to Blake Griffin and Nate Robinson…go figure. In the 2011 Slam Dunk Contest DeRozan scored a perfect 50 on his first dunk. One of only two 50s awarded. That’s crazy and it definitely aids his dunking ability. He is freakishly athletic (see above) and is a very solid dunker. Click here to view the video on YouTube. 6. J.R. Smith  J.R. has always been known as a scorer. And dunking is one of his best scoring options. He has had some crazy dunks in his career (like his reverse alley-oop and when he embarrassed Gary Neal). Click here to view the video on YouTube. 5. Paul George Some people may think that number five is too high for George. I suggest that those people go watch some of his highlights because he can ball. He is underrated as a player and a dunker. Click here to view the video on YouTube. 4. Nate Robinson Robinson is 5’ 9” and still can dunk…very well. Do you know how short that is? I’m 5’ 9” and I can’t even touch the rim, so I’m impressed every time he dunks. And Nate can throw down. He may be small but he is a very good dunker, and another former slam dunk contest champ. Click here to view the video on YouTube. 3. Josh Smith Josh Smith can straight up ball. The lefty has had some great slams in his career and is one of the more powerful dunkers in the league. He dunks often, and with a lot of authority. Click here to view the video on YouTube. 2. LeBron James  LeBron is the most athletic player in the NBA, and he is as powerful as many big men are. That combination makes for some very intense dunks, which is why he is the second best (arguably the best) dunker in the league. And I know a lot of people that would like to see him in a dunk contest. Click here to view the video on YouTube. 1. Blake Griffin Blake is a key cog in the high-flying system that is “Lob City.” He is the best dunker in the NBA, leading the league in total dunks. And if there were a stat for highlight dunks, he would be leading that category too. He “posterizes” guys that are seven feet tall (Timofey Mozgov). Plus he is a slam dunk contest champion.
