Found November 11, 2013 on Turn On The Knicks:
The New York Knicks have three games on the schedule for this week, two of which are nationally televised. Read on to see what else the Knicks have coming up as they look to move on without Tyson Chandler for a while. LAST WEEK The biggest story from last week was the loss of Chandler. After colliding with Charlotte’s Kemba Walker, he sustained a broken leg, leaving the Knicks without their best big man for 4-6 weeks. The injury kickstarted Andrea Bargnani’s season, but the blow to the defense has been tremendous. Amar’e Stoudemire and Kenyon Martin couldn’t combine enough minutes for a rotational player if they wanted to, and the only other options are an incapable Cole Aldrich and D-Leaguer, Jeremy Tyler. At this point, the interior might as well be a layup line. The Knicks went 1-2 last week and now sit at 2-4 on the season. Despite the ugly numbers, the sky isn’t actually falling. It’s hard to beat any professional team twice in a row, so a split with Charlotte isn’t all that b...

New York Knicks: Where is the effort?

Maddie Meyer/Getty Images The New York Knicks are playing, for at least the next month, without their defensive anchor Tyson Chandler.  They have two power forwards, Kenyon Martin and A’mare Stoudemire, who are on minutes restrictions.  For the first five games, the Knicks were without the suspended J.R. Smith’s 18.1 points per game from last season.  The Knicks are also going...

Smith made his 2013-14 season debut for the New York Knicks today against the San Antonio Spurs after serving a drug suspension. With the suspension in Smith’s rear view, he once again reunited with his fellow ball club members Carmelo Anthony and Iman Shumpert. The Spurs clobbered the Knicks...

Knicks Unveil Bright Orange Christmas Day Uniforms (Photo)

If the Knicks don’t turn their season around, there won’t be any need to watch them on Christmas day. The Knicks were blasted at home Sunday by the Spurs wearing bright orange, and today Paul Lukas of Uniwatch, tweeted out this photo of the bright orange sleeved jersey’s they will wear on Christmas day. EXCLUSIVE first look at Knicks Xmas Day jersey:

J.R. Smith returns after weed suspension

While the other Knicks were going through a light workout, J.R. Smith was on his own. He was working furiously with trainer Idan Ravin, running baseline to baseline, sinking one jump shot after another. It was the final dress rehearsal for Smith before the enigmatic shooting guard makes his regular-season debut Sunday against the reigning Western Conference champion Spurs. “I...

Andrea Bargnani showcases his ‘superb’ defensive skills

It’s best to just watch this one first. There are so many things wrong with Andrea Bargnani’s defense that it’s not worth breaking it down. All that needs to be said is that the Knicks are paying him $10 million to do this kind of stuff. [Deadspin] The post Andrea Bargnani showcases his ‘superb’ defensive skills appeared first on The Nosebleeds.

Knicks’ J.R. Smith Will Make Season Debut Sunday

The New York Knicks (2-3) lost Tyson Chandler for at least a month, but will be happy to know that guard J.R. Smith will make his regular season debut tonight against the San Antonio Spurs. Smith missed the first five games, not because of injury, but due to a suspension that the league placed when he violated the anti-drug policy. However, due to the surgery that J.R. Smith underwent...

Mike Woodson Unsure If Knicks Will Change Starting Lineup

Mike Woodson was asked whether he would change the New York Knicks' lineup and the coach paused for several seconds before answering. "I don't know yet," he said. The Knicks could place Metta World Peace in the starting lineup in place of Iman Shumpert. Carmelo Anthony said he was not privy to any possible changes. “No, he don’t talk to us about that,” Anthony...

The Knicks are missing the D in their Alphabet

It was suppose to be the big return of the 2013 6th man of the year award winner but in the end it was the Spurs who were celebrating. Not only did the Knicks lose to the Spurs, but they looked like the middle school varsity team from district 6 with their performance on Sunday. Most fans, even Woodson, thought that with the return of JR Smith, the team will be getting a major boost...

Spurs utter dominance over Knicks on Sunday afternoon, 120-89

In stark contrast to Friday’s cage match with Golden State, the Spurs had no trouble capitalizing on the absence of Tyson Chandler to thoroughly rout the Knicks. It was the basketball equivalent of beating someone up and stealing their money, their shoes, and anything else with any value. The Spurs led 10-0 in the early minutes, 35-17 at the end of the first quarter and ultimately...

Spurs vs. Knicks

Credit: Getty Image J.R. Smith is back in the lineup for the New York Knicks as they take on one of last year’s NBA Championship finalists, the San Antonio Spurs. Smith is returning after a five-game drug suspension and will come off the bench according to Knicks coach Mike Woodson. “It’s going to be a big game.” Knicks coach Mike Woodson said Smith probably won’t play...

Game Recap: Spurs a lot (120), Knicks a little (89)

That was about as bad as it can get. Had the Knicks played the way they did on Sunday against a middling team, they still would have lost. But when you play with such malaise and ineptitude, especially on defense, against a team like the Spurs, things get ugly and out of control. Some thoughts: - It was a game the Knicks were simply never competitive in. They went down 10-0 right...

Video: Tony Parker loses Iman Shumpert with crossover

Tweet   While much of the country was taking in NFL action the San Antonio Spurs and New York Knicks met in an early tip-off at Madison Square Garden on Sunday. If you didn’t catch any of the game among the things you missed (besides New York’s orange uniforms) was this crossover Tony Parker used to make Iman Shumpert temporarily irrelevant. Parker...

CC video of the day: Shumpert's ankles get obliterated by Tony Parker

To add insult to injury during the Knicks huge loss to the Spurs (120-89), New York's Iman Shumpert's ankles got twisted up courtesy of Tony Parker. Coming off a big block by Danny Green in the first quarter, Parker led the Spurs back on offense where he found himself one-on-one with Shumpert. What happened after was a massacre for Iman's ankles as well as his pride...

Tony Parker Makes Iman Shumpert Look Foolish With Crossover (Video)

I don’t know if it was the crossover or Andrea Bargnani’s lack of defensive awareness, but poor Iman Shumpert got treated like a rag doll by Tony Parker on this possession. Shumpert is a pretty good defender, so I’ll put the blame on Bargnani this time.
