Turn On The Knicks:
Monday was the start of training camp for the New York Knicks…sort of, but not really. In actuality, the Knicks simply reported to Greenburgh and answered questions from throngs of reporters at the annual Media Day. Finally on Tuesday the boys in blue and orange will start passing and dribbling and shooting basketballs – and hopefully doing all of that well.
Until then, we’re reduced to reacting to what the Knicks said to the press on Monday. Or in the case on the Knicks’ franchise player, what he didn’t say. The most “newsworthy” (give those quotation marks a lot of credence, by the way) thing to come out of Monday’s player availability was Carmelo Anthony’s refusal to talk in specifics about his contract situation. That situation, for those who may not know, is that Anthony has two years left on his deal but can opt out of the final year after this season. He’s almost certainly going to do that, but obviously wouldn’t admit it on Monday.
“I’m not going to go through the season thin
BEST OF MAXIM
The New York Knicks officially kicked off their 2013 campaign holding media day at the Knicks training facility. It was the first time all the players and coaches of the Knicks organization have been available to reporters. New Knicks general manager Steve Mills also spoke to reporters.
Knicks’ GM Steve Mills has high expectations for the Knicks this season. ”Our goal...

With the 2013-14 NBA regular season exactly a month away, there are several issues that the New York Knicks must deal with.
1. Amar’e Stoudemire’s health
With the Knicks training camp beginning this Tuesday and the first regular season game a month away, much concern surrounds Stoudemire’s...
At least he is honest.
You know what you are getting with Carmelo, so don’t expect anything more.

Carmelo Anthony feels there is no reason to think about his potential free agency now.
The New York Knicks don't seem so sure.
The Knicks followed their first Atlantic Division championship team in 19 years with a strangely timed change in the front office, just days before opening training camp. Steve Mills returned to Madison Square Garden as president and general manager...
There is nothing really to talk about at this point.
If the Knicks go into the tank he will probably leave, if they show they can get past the 2nd round of the playoffs he will probably stay.
Not rocket science.
Carmelo Anthony says he will not be addressing his impending free agency: "I'm not doing that. When that time comes, I'll deal with that."

Carmelo Anthony says the pressure is on him
I could only picture Carmelo Anthony laughing maniacally in his head, when asked if Andrea Bargnani will be able to handle the pressure of Gotham City. But to Bargnani’s credit, Melo stated he likes what he sees from the former overall number one pick. You know, because he could have said “Are you nuts, why the hell do we have this...
Amar’e Stoudemire sees himself and Carmelo Anthony entering the Hall of Fame together one of these years.
But whether Stoudemire and Anthony enter with a joint championship ring largely depends on whether the Knicks power forward’s knees hold up by April’s playoffs.
With the Knicks gathering Monday for Media Day and team meetings as camp commences in Tarrytown the health...
When Carmelo Anthony heads for unrestricted free agency next offseason, Kobe Bryant could be the X-factor in Anthony's negotiations with the New York Knicks, according to a source.
The Lakers will have cap space next summer and Bryant could promise Anthony that together they can make a run at a championship in Los Angeles.
“For me, it’s about being part of a winning organization...
The 2013-14 NBA season has yet to officially tip-off, yet still the big summer of 2014 is being talked about.
One of the Los Angeles Lakers‘ expected big free agent targets next off-season is Carmelo Anthony of the New York Knicks. According to a source of the NY Daily News, Melo may be open to joining the purple and gold if his good friend Kobe Bryant reaches out to him and promises...
According to a new report, Kobe Bryant could be an X-factor in Carmelo Anthony’s future plans, despite the Knicks All-Star saying he will not speak about free agency until the time presents itself after the upcoming season.
According to Frank Isola of the NY Daily News:
A person familiar with Anthony’s thinking says that Kobe Bryant could be the X-factor in the Knicks’ negotiations...
Carmelo Anthony privately pined for a secondary scorer in the offseason. And so far after the first practice of training camp Anthony is talking like he has got one in the Knicks’ key offseason acquisition Andrea Bargnani.
Anthony even said he would be willing to slide over from power forward to small forward to make room in the starting lineup for the 6-foot-11 Italian.
I’ve been saying it for years. Was saying it early last season when the world was convinced that ‘Melo was the MVP of the league and the Knicks were title contenders. And I’ll say it again now. Carmelo Anthony is, who he is. That’s just what it comes down to. Great volume scorer, decent rebounder, […]
Kenyon Martin believes Carmelo Anthony isn't going anywhere next summer.
So much so that Martin said confidently of a guy he has been teammates with in Denver and New York: "Personally I can't see him going anywhere else."
"It's the city man" Martin said of why Anthony won't leave New York. "If he don't know that by now ... people...
Carmelo Anthony is happy the Knicks picked up the option on Mike Woodson’s contract for the 2014-15 season. But the Knicks superstar insisted he didn’t lobby owner James Dolan or general manager Steve Mills to make the move.
“No I didn’t have any input or anything like that with the front office” Anthony said on Tuesday after the Knicks completed their first practice of...
