Wednesday evening, 9 p.m exactly, marked the deadline for members of the 2008 draft class to receive a contract extension. Notable players such as Kevin Love, Russell Westbrook, and Danilo Gallinari, all received extensions while players such as Roy Hibbert, Brook Lopez, Robin Lopez, Eric Gordon, and Ryan Anderson did not. The one player who I left off the list is Nicolas Batum due to the fact that the reason for his non-extension is sort of tricky. As always when something like this happens there is always two sides to the story, but in this case there is three. First off it has been reported that Batum is eager to stay with the Trail Blazers and would like to remain with his current team. There really hasn’t been much talk from Batum about the matter other than what I already covered...

Time to Trade Nicolas Batum

I agree with the Blazers not signing Nicolas Batum to a deal before the deadline. He has yet to bring his European scoring touch to the NBA. I’m not saying he is Sergio Rodriguez because Batum is a top notch NBA defender, but his offence is very John Starks-like. He can go 10 for 10 one night and then go 2 for 15 the next 4 nights. If Batum was more consistent with his offenseâ...

Signs Point To Batum, Blazers Not Reaching An Extension On Wednesday

Weeks of ongoing negotiations between Nicolas Batum and the Porltand Trail Blazers all comes down to Wednesday, and if the deadline passes and an extension isn’t reached Blazers fans shouldn’t be alarmed.
